Title : Speak beyond word : A workshop on effective body language

Goals:

1. Instill the art of non-verbal communication among participants.


2. Explain the importance of Nonverbal communication
3. Enhance leadership skills
4. Improve public speaking skills
5. How to make your words more effective
6. Improve nonverbal communication
7. Explain Cultural Sensitivity
8. Explain how non-verbal cues carry over to the digital world

Target Audience:

 Artists in the entertainment industries


 Help business individuals to present their ideas better than before
 Nonnative English speakers
 Educators and trainers
 Team leaders and Managers

Workshop Outline:

 Introductions
o Introduce ourself and our motives
o Distributing pamphlets highlighting our outline
 Ice breaking activity (Power off)
o Pair participants into two and ask them to come on stage and strike power poses
given on the pamphlet
o Then the audience will be asked to vote for the better pose.
 Segment 1 (Video Analysis)
o Case study of a fictional character showing different body languages used by the
character and how that effects his impression to the audience
o Provide audience captivating examples on good communication cues
o Highlight what different types of cues are available to use and when they should be
used.
o Draws attention to the finer details that are usually overlooked while consuming
content.
 Segment 2 (Internet communication)
o Show the audience pictures of emojis and ask them what context they are used for
while talking over the internet.
o Emphasize the change bought by use of visual cues (emojis, punctuation,
capitalization etc.) on text-based conversation through real life examples
 Segment 3 (Lab Task)
o Distribute worksheet to the participants that will be used to evaluate their attention
during the workshop.
o The worksheet will contain questions related to everything that was explained
during the workshop.
 Segment 4 (Act it out)
o The audience will be grouped in groups of 4 and each group will pick a
representative.
o The representative will be given a gesture/expression/scenario which he would have
to act out.
o The job of the remaining group member is to guess what the user is acting out.

 A worksheet at the end of the workshop will be given to everyone that will have questions
related to the workshop.
 The questions will be related to the concepts thought in the workshop and will be used to
asses the audience understanding and engagement during the workshop.
