Lesson Flow
The teacher will ask the students to watch a video on a Shakespeare (or any popular) declamation piece.

The learning objective of the day is to use the principles of effective speech delivery through a presentation of a memorized
declamation speech in class.
Before the start of the lesson, we will unlock the following:
1. Types of Figure of speech
2. Parts of Speech
discussion on principles of speech delivery…. (insert principles: 1) articulation, 2) modulation, 3) stage presence, 4) facial
expression, gestures, and movements, and 5) rapport with audiences)

Declamation
 give instructions on activity (individual, 3-4 mins)
 speech practice: reading short poems and declamation pieces together as a class, by groups, and/ or individually
 practice eye contact, breathing, facial expressions, gestures, intonation and pronunciation

The students will have an individual declamation performance in front of the class. They will be given their own declamation
piece to memorize.
The teacher will be providing immediate feedback on the performance given by the student. This feedback will be based on the
articulated rubric to the students.
The teacher will give a formative assessment through a short quiz on the topic discussed.

After answering, the students will exchange their papers with their seatmates and will be checked immediately. Reteaching of
weakly mastered competency may be done during the checking.
The teacher will provide homework that the students will be working on.
Instructions:
 Form a group of 3-4 members.
 Look for and watch any recorded State of the Nation Address (SONA) of the current or former presidents of the
Republic of the Philippines.
 Evaluate the delivery of the speech according to the principles we discussed in class (articulation, modulation, stage
presence, facial expression, gestures, and movements, and rapport with audiences).
 Answer the following guide questions after you evaluate their speeches.
o Is the delivery of the speech effective? Justify.
o Which of the following principles was clearly evident in the speech you evaluated? Why?
o How did the audience behave during the speech? Is there a principle that is not followed and observed? Why?
 Write your comprehensive evaluation and answer to the guide questions in a short bond paper to be submitted next
meeting.
