A) “Assume that you are a salesperson who calls on retailers. For some time, you
have been attempting to get an appointment with one of the best retailers in the
city to carry your line. You have an appointment to see the head buyer in one
and one-half hours. You are sitting in your office. It will take you about 30
minutes to drive to your appointment. Outline what you should be doing between
now and the time you leave to meet your prospect.” (Chapter 10 pg: 249)

 First, I must know the key points of my brand and prepare some answers
to the potential questions that I may have. Make sure that I am familiar
with my product.
 Take some time to review some information about the retailer and check
their potential needs and target.
 Organize and pack some material that I might need for the meeting.
 Double-check the logistics, time of the meeting and location.
 Make sure that you are dressed appropriately for the meeting.
 Be mentally prepared that you are going to have a successful meeting and
maintain positive and confident.

A. “Tom Nelson has just graduated from Aspen College with a major in marketing.
He has three years of experience in the retail grocery business and has decided
he would like to go to work as a salesperson for the district office of Procter &
Gamble. Tom has decided to telephone and set up an appointment for an
interview. Write out exactly what Tom should plan to say during his telephone
call.” (Chapter 10 pg: 249)

Tom: Hello, my name is Tom. I just graduated from Aspen College with a major in
marketing and I want to contribute to P&G. I have 3 years of experience and I believe
my background aligns well with your company.
P&G: Hi, nice to meet you. That’s great to hear. We are always looking for individuals to
join our team. How can I help you?
Tom: I would like the opportunity to show how my skills could contribute to P&G. I was
hoping to arrange an interview to learn more if you have any available positions.
P&G: Let me check our schedule. Would something next week work for you?
Tom: Sounds perfect! Could we arrange it for Monday at 9:00 am?
P&G: Ok! See you on Monday at 9:00 am
Tom: Thanks in advance, see you then. Have a nice day.
P&G: Have a good one.
