This evening we are praying for MOTHERS!

Mothers are God’s vessels to conceiving and bringing forth new life to the world.
Mothers’ needs prayers for the courage and support they needed to face the
uncertain future that life with children always brings.
Proverbs 31:28-31 - Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also,
and he praiseth her. 29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest
them all. 30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth
the Lord, she shall be praised. 31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her
own works praise her in the gates.

By the special grace of God, This year, Mother’s Day will be celebrated on Sunday,
March 19. Mother’s Day is a special time set aside to celebrate motherhood and
the many women who raise and invest in children and families. It is a day when
children and families can honor the women in their lives who have raised, taught,
helped, and poured into them. God instructs honor and respect toward mothers
Ephesians 6:1-3). 6 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

Many families celebrate Mother’s Day by going to church together, preparing the
meal for mom, giving mom gifts letting mom have a day of rest, and doing a
special activity together as a family but most importantly pray for mothers.

To prepare us I want to speak on What does God say about Mothers?

The Bible consistently asks followers to honor and love their mothers. God has
much to say about mothers. He greatly values mothers and their unique
contribution to the world. Jesus certainly would not have been born without a
mother! One of the most well-known Scriptures related to parenthood is found in
Exodus 20:12, which is also one of the Ten Commandments:
“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the
Lord your God is giving you.” and Leviticus 19:3, “Every one of you shall revere his
mother and his father.” The word honor in Hebrew means to make weighty, or to
be honorable

How do you honor your mother? Do you view her as a weight or burden, or as
someone with rich value, glorious dignity, and honorable worth? How can we
bless and honor our mothers as God commanded in Exodus? One of the best
ways we can honor our mothers is by praying for them. So this evening we are
specially praying for Mothers.
A Prayer of Thanksgiving for Mothers
Colossians 4:2 - Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;

Father, we thank you for making our mothers fruitful in childbearing, in ministry,
in supporting their spouses, etc, in Jesus name. 1Tim 2:15

you’ve released to them. Father, thank you for perfecting your good works in the
lives of our mothers in Jesus name.

Thank you for the unwavering Love you continue to show through them. They’ve
consistently and relentlessly nurtured us; always ready to do whatever it takes to
bring out the best in us.

They’ve sacrificed sleep and rest to ensure that we can sleep well and rest well.
They’ve taken their time to make sure that we make the best of ours.
They’ve sacrificed all that we might have all. Truly our mothers have been one of
your greatest blessings to us all… and so, Lord thank you so much for our
mothers!

Father, we thank you for our mummies in our families, in RCCG, thank you for
preserving them and using them for your glory. Let us thank God for the life and

preservations of the wives of Pastors, female Pastors, Ministers and workers in
RCCG. Psa 86:2

raises children. Let us thank God for the ways our mothers takes care of us, how
she teaches us, and how she sacrifices so much for her family. We give thanks for
the faith and spirituality that mothers passes on to the next generation, and that
mothers takes seriously the biblical instruction to train a child up in the ways of
the Lord.

Mothers works so hard in and out of the home to provide for the many physical,
emotional, and spiritual needs for her family, and we thank you, Lord, for the
passion and heart mothers has to work hard and glorify God. We are grateful for
how you strengthen, equip, and empower mothers to be the hands and feet of

blesses us and takes care of us. Thank you, Lord, for blessing our family with a

faithfulness to her. In Jesus name, Amen.

A Prayer of Blessing for Mothers

Psalm 37:25-27 - 25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the
righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
26 He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.
27 Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.

Let us lift up mothers to God and ask that God would bless her. Let us pray that
God would bless her with wisdom which comes from heaven. Bless her with
peace that surpasses all understanding. Let God blessing be on her so that she
would rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances. Bless
her with a deep hope in You alone. We ask that you would anoint her – that she
would bear the fruit of the Spirit, that she would not labor in vain, and that You
would bless the work of her hands. Lord, bless her with love, hope, and faith as
she goes about her days. Bless her with the eyes to see that all she does for her
children and her family provides her ways to glorify You. We pray that she would
be blessed in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Amen!

Prayer: Lord, today I pray a prayer of blessing for my mother. Shower her with
your blessings each day as she trusts in you. Multiply her blessings, and please
provide for her every need. I pray that my family and I will continue to bless her
with our love and support. Amen.

Prayers for Mothers: A Prayer of Protection

Psalm 5:11
11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy,
because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
Praying prayers of protection are great ways to pray for our mothers. Psalm 91 is
a popular psalm many people use to pray for protection and covering over their
loved ones. I also love Psalm 5:12, which describes the beautiful imagery of God’s
protection surrounding his people like a shield. As you pray for your mother or for
mothers everywhere, ask the Lord to sustain and protect them with his grace,
mercy, and love.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for your loving protection to guard all mothers. Guard them
and keep them in all their ways. Watch over their going out and they’re coming in.
Give them the physical strength and stamina they need to accomplish what you
have purposed for them to do as mothers. Protect them from the schemes of
Satan, and may your favor and protection surround them as with a shield (Psalm
5:12). Amen.

Prayer for New Mothers
Gracious God, We pray for the new mothers. The woman who is learning how to
care for a baby, how to juggle all the new and existing responsibilities,
experiencing sleepless nights, and doing her best to sooth and nourish her little
one. We pray that she would find peace and rest in this beautiful yet challenging
season in the life of her family. We ask that you would grant her wisdom, that you
would teach her, and that you would give her confidence in this new role. Pour
into her, Lord, giving her strength and holding her marriage and family together
through all the transitions and changes. Surround her with family and friends who
will support her, be there for her, and encourage her. Give her courage to ask for
help and share what’s on her heart and mind as she cares for a new baby. Let her
savor this time and find hope that she can do all things through Christ Jesus.
Amen

TO BE MOTHERS
Lord l, We pray for the woman who isn’t a mom, yet desires in her heart to have a
family. You know the anticipation, the sadness or hopelessness she may be
feeling. We trust, Lord, that you are with her and can bring the comfort and rest
that she needs. We pray, oh God, that you would remind her of her worth, that
she is made in your image, and that you love her unconditionally. Calm her fears
and worries. Relieve her anxieties and aching heart. Help her to trust you in all
circumstances. We pray that she would find hope in the good plans you have for
her. Provide her opportunities to nurture, use her gifts, and ministry to others for
your glory. We pray that during this season when mothers are being celebrated,
she would know you see her and remember her, too. We thank you, Lord, for
helping her through, and ask this all in Jesus’ name.
Amen!

PRAYER FOR SINGLE MOTHERS

Psalm 68:5
A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.

When I think of single mothers in the Bible, I am reminded of the widow in

Zarephath in 1 Kings 17:7-16. Her story is one of amazing faith and trust in the
Lord during dire situations. There was a famine in the land, and rain would not
come for the next few years. The widow was preparing to make her final meal
before she and her son would die of starvation (1 Kings 17:12). But the prophet
Elijah encouraged the widow to make a loaf of bread for him, declaring to her that
‘…the jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the
day the Lord sends rain on the land.’ (1 Kings 17:14)
Her trust and obedience not only saved her and her son, but provided an
abundance of God’s blessing over her home. So there was food every day for
Elijah and for the woman and her family. For the jar of flour was not used up and
the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by
Elijah. (1 Kings 17:15)

If you know of any single mothers in your family, church, or community, look for
ways you can extend assistance to her. Also, pray a special prayer of provision and
strength for them, that they may see the hand of God work powerfully in their
lives!

Lord, I pray for single mothers everywhere. Bless them with the power, through
your Holy Spirit, to raise their children with grace, wisdom, and truth. During
those moments of difficulty and despair, remind them of the promises from your
word to strengthen and encourage their souls. Remind them that you are there
for them, and will guide them each day. May they take their burdens to the cross,
and rely upon you for their source of help during times of need. In Jesus name,
Amen.

Lord, We pray for the mothers who, for whatever reason, are raising her children
as a single parent. We ask that you would remind her of your love for her. We
pray that she would do her best each day to point her children to the love of Jesus
and find peace in You. Lord, provide for her and meet the needs of her and her
family. Through challenging seasons and hardships, give her assurance that you
are with her and will see her through. We know you see her tears, you see her
working hard, and we know you are guiding her steps when she calls out to you.
Give her courage and favor, and surround her with family, friends, and a church
family that will love her and help her. We pray that her children would lack
nothing. Let’s pray that God will Deepen her faith and trust in Him. Amen!

A Prayer for Women Struggling with Infertility

1 Samuel 1:20 - So in the course of time Hannah became pregnant and gave birth
to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, “Because I asked the Lord for him.”

There are many examples of women in Scripture who deeply desired to bear
children, but encountered the pain and devastation of infertility. One such
woman was Hannah. Through much weeping and mourning, Hannah continually
cried out to the Lord. She earnestly prayed to God for a son, and he heard her
prayer and gave her a son (1 Samuel 1:10-11, 19). In humble gratitude and
appreciation, Hannah dedicated her son Samuel back to the Lord, and Samuel
served God in the temple, and became one of the greatest prophets in the Old
Testament (1 Samuel 1:22, 2:21, 3:10)
Although we recognize God’s sovereignty and control over our lives, we often do
not know or understand why He allows certain things to happen. We certainly can
not comprehend how God’s plan will unfold in our lives. If you know of a woman
who is experiencing infertility, pray that she will find comfort and rest in the
sovereign plan of her Heavenly Father.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for women who desire to become mothers, but are struggling
with infertility. Hold them close in your arms, and give them the comfort and
strength they need each day. Let them know that you have not forgotten them,
and that you know the desires of their hearts. Restore their mind, body, soul, and
spirit. Remind them of your goodness and love for them. Amen.

A Prayer for Mothers who are Grieving

Psalm 147:3 - He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

Many of us have experienced the deep pain of loss in our lives. Whether it is loss
through miscarriage, losing a family member due to tragedy or illness, the pain of
losing a loved one is absolutely devastating.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for mothers who are grieving. Whether they are mourning the
loss of a friend, family member, or a precious child, comfort them with the
strength and comfort that can only come from you. Be ever-present with them
during this time of difficulty and remind them of your never-ending love for them
each day. Amen.

Prayer for the Estranged Mom

Good God, We lift up the mom who has an estranged relationship with her
children. You know their story. You know what weighs heavy on their heart and
mind, especially this time of year when motherhood is celebrated. We pray that
you would mend the broken hearts and hear the prayers of these mothers. We
ask that relationships would be restored in Jesus’ name. We ask that hurts and
offenses would be forgiven, and that you would bring peace to the mom who is
hurting. We pray for the children involved, as well, that you would carry their
sadness and pain. We pray for humility to abound in both parties’ hearts and that
you would remind these moms of your deep care and love for them. Family is an
incredible gift you have given, but in our brokenness, we often face troubles, have
problems, and relationships can be wounded. We ask that you would comfort
these moms and bring them hope in all circumstances.
Amen!
