Morning

Praise
(Tuesday)
Let us remember that we
are in the Holy presence
of the Lord.
In the name of the
Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
The Catholic Church designates
September 8 as the birthday of Mary.
Mary was conceived by her mother, St.
Anne, free from original sin. Mary’s
father is St. Joachim. May this simple
celebration for the birthday of our
Mother touch our hearts and motivate
us to strive to follow her examples, in
our desire of going closer to her Son,
our Lord, Jesus Christ. Let us ask Mary
the blessing of humility obedience and
simplicity as we all stand and sing our
opening song:
Morning Offering
O Heavenly Father, our Lord and
God, we thank you for the
blessings you give us. As we do
our work today, guide, inspire
and protect us. Make us kind,
obedient and fruitful like your
Son, Jesus. With Mary, our
Blessed Mother, may we remain
loving children to You and to one
another and to be responsible
citizens of our country. Amen.

Gospel according to Luke.

Glory to You, O Lord

During those days Mary set out and traveled to the hill
country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered
the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When
Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in
her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the holy Spirit,
cried out in a loud voice and said, “Most blessed are
you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your
womb. And how does this happen to me, that the
mother of my Lord should come to me? For at the
moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears,
the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you
who believed* that what was spoken to you by the Lord
would be fulfilled.”
And Mary said:
“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit
rejoices in God my savior. For he has looked upon his
handmaid’s lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages
call me blessed. The Mighty One has done great things
for me, and holy is his name. His mercy is from age to
age to those who fear him.
He has shown might with his arm, dispersed the arrogant
of mind and heart. He has thrown down the rulers from
their thrones but lifted up the lowly. The hungry he has
filled with good things; the rich he has sent away empty.
He has helped Israel his servant, remembering his mercy,
according to his promise to our fathers, to Abraham and
to his descendants forever.”

Mary remained with her about three months and then
returned to her home.

Reflection
Today we celebrate Mary’s birthday, we speak of her
simplicity, obedience, and humility. She was simple in her
ways, without any pretension or ambitious concern to be
exalted. Her Magnificat was an exaltation of her simplicity
and lowliness. As regards her obedience, this was strongly
shown in her total response of faith and cooperation to
God’s plan when she said “YES” to be the Mother of God.
Moreover, Mary exhibited the value of humility as she
accepted the mission to be the servant of God, the
handmaid of the Lord. Indeed, she devoted her whole life to
Jesus, loving and following Him even up to Calvary. These
are the virtues we should constantly learn to live and teach
others to live.
Prayers of the Faithful
The plan of God for the salvation of humankind
was realized through the generous and total self-
giving of Mary when she humbly accepted the
mission to be the Mother of God. In return, the
Church looks at her with deep admiration and
reverence. Let us humbly ask for the grace and
blessing through the intercession of Mary. For
every petition, let our response be:

Panatang Makabayan

Iniibig ko ang Pilipinas,

aking lupang sinilangan,
tahanan ng aking lahi;
kinukupkop ako at tinutulungang
maging malakas, masipag at marangal.
Dahil mahal ko ang Pilipinas,
diringgin ko ang payo
ng aking mga magulang,
susundin ko ang tuntunin ng paaralan,
tutuparin ko ang tungkulin
ng mamamayang makabayan:
naglilingkod, nag-aaral at nagdarasal
nang buong katapatan.
Iaalay ko ang aking buhay,
pangarap, pagsisikap
sa bansang Pilipinas.
