MIS Descriptive Research Guideline

Students should follow the following points

1. Prepare an interview checklist and observation check list, Collect also documents prepared to
develop the system and documents used by the system such as system manual

Question example-

1) What is the main objective of the information system?

2) What are the software used by the system?
3) What is the cost to develop the system?
4) What the available IT professionals to operate the system
5) Do you claim that your system is successful?
6) If yes, What are the benefits obtained from the system such as cost reduction?
7) If no, What are the challenges of the system?
8) What additional features you want to be included to the current system to make the
current system useful to your organization?
9) Do you have any other suggestions?
2. Select respondents from IT department, users who use the system and managers (you can
interview 6 to 10 persons)
3. Have appointment and conduct the interview and the observation
4. Analyze the information that you have collected – use qualitative data analysis methods to
identify main themes from your interview
5. Prepare the report
