** Class Test **
Drama Script and Dialogues.
NPS: That's all for today. I hope you enjoyed the class. In the next class, each of you will share
your aim in life.
Motasim just finished the philosophy class of Nuruddin Pier Shihab Sir. He is a Hons student and
confused about his aim in life. He likes the philosophy class because he likes to think a lot. He is a bit
of an introvert. Now he lies down in his bed and thinks about his aim in life.
MH: Aaah. My life sucks. What a waste. What kind of a Hons student doesn’t know his aim in
life?
I want to be a........... a............ Aaahhhh. It’s hurting my brain. To hell with it.
After lying down for some time, he falls asleep. In dreams, he hears some strange voice.
Voice1:Child. You know, we suffer more in imagination than in reality.
MH: Who’s this? Who are you?
Voice1:You know me. I am Lucius Annaeus Seneca.
MH: Who? I never heard of your name.
Seneca: It seems that you appreciate my philosophies, but you do not have positive feelings towards
me personally.
MH: Philosophy? See I am confused about something so either you tell me clearly who you are or
else go away.
Voice2:I told you Seneca. He will never recognize us.
Voice3:Wait a moment. Child, do you know that a room without books is like a body without a soul?
MH: Wait a second. I know this quote. But that doesn’t explain who are you guys.
Voice4:Still confused ay? Kid, you have power over your mind — not outside events. Realize this,
and
you will find strength.
MH: Are you guys playing with me? This is also a quote from Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius.
Voice4:I am Marcus Aurelius.
Voice3:And I am Marcus Cicero.
Voice2:And I am Plotinus.
MH: Wait a second. All of you are philosophers.
NPS: Finally Motasim. You recognized all of them. You should attend my class regularly and focus
on the classroom.
MH: Oww. Sir? You’re here too? I am very confused. What’s happening here?
NPS: We are all here to help you find the real purpose of your life.
MH: Oww. That’s great. I needed help.
NPS: I will give you two choices. Either you can choose guaranteed happiness by making everyone
else unhappy in this world except your beloved few. The second path leads you to live an
uncertain life like everyone else in this world.
MH: Hmm. Two choices are really making me think.
Seneca: Think carefully child. Because wisdom and virtue will lead you to happiness but it’s not
virtuous to make others unhappy. That’s selfishness.
MH: So, you are suggesting that I should choose the second option? The uncertain life. But who
would leave an option where happiness is guaranteed? That’s a fool’s choice.
Cicero: No child. God has given us life and we should respect other life too. Because those lives are
also God-given. If you stay true to your character and respect God, you will be rewarded. But
if you hurt others then God will punish you. Develop your character according to God’s will
and make the uncertain journey of life. You will find happiness along the way.
MH: But it’s uncertain. But I can choose a guaranteed happiness.
Aurelius: You’re still a novice. Improve your thinking. Remember happiness depends on the quality
of your thinking. If you can control your thoughts every problem will be solved easily.
Plotinus: Kid. You know that the soul that beholds beauty becomes beautiful. Like this, if you make
others unhappy, you can never find happiness.
MH: But the option said “Guaranteed Happiness”.
NPS: Don’t get stuck on exact words Motasim. I taught you that words have different meanings.
MH: Oww. Now I get it. I am clear now. I am going to choose the second option.
Motasim’s father wakes him up from the sleep. He now was clear about his aim in life. In the next
class, Pier Sir asked everyone and everyone had their answers. But Sir didn’t ask Motasim.
MH: Sir, don’t you want to know my aim in life?
NPS: I know you want the uncertain journey of life. That’s a great choice. I am proud of you.
MH: But how do you know?
Pier Sir Smiled.
