LEARNING STORY
One day, the first lesson was “Reviewing Numbers 1-50” and the teacher began this activity by
counting 1-50 together with the students. After that, the teacher asked students to sit down nicely and as
usual, Kael sat down nicely for a while and the teacher gave him the worksheet. Kael showed his ability
to complete the worksheet independently. The other activity was “Hang the CVC Words” and Kael
waited patiently for his turn. “Kael!” the teacher called him and he went around the class looking for
some letters to make a word. Afterwards, he hung those letters to form a proper word. “Can you read it
Kael?” the teacher asked, “Yes, ant,” he replied. “Good job, Kael!” the teacher praised him. In EPL
field, Kael showed his ability to wash clothes. Here, based on the teacher observation, Kael was good in
washing clothes. He put the clothes and soaked it in the water with soap; he rubbed and squeezed it.
After that, Kael put the clothes in the clean water to give it a good rinse and squeezed it again. Laslty,
he hung the clothes under the sun to make it dry. On another activity, which was “Tea Party”, Kael also
showed his skill in EPL too and could make the tea by himself. First, the teacher gave mug, tea and
teaspoon for him and then he showed to the teacher that he could pour the hot water safely by himself
and pour the sugar in the mug. Lastly, he stirred the tea and was ready to enjoy tea party with his
friends. In Bahasa Indonesia, Kael has mastered in “Membaca Dua Suku Kata”. There was a time when
the teacher asked him “Kael, tolong tuliskan papi mami baca buku,” and then without any question,
Kael wrote it on the whiteboard in front of the class. He also demonstrated his ability in Bahasa
Indonesia by joining Indonesian Independence Day and dressed up like a Disk Jockey. In “Healthy
Habits” theme, he really enjoyed making fruit salad with his friends even though he forgot to bring a
fruit from home. He even added some toppings on the fruit salad by saying, “I want the yoghurt, and
mayonnaise and milk”, “How about cheese?” the teacher offered him, “No,” he replied.
