ACTIVITY COMPLETION REPORT

I RATIONALE
I think everyone would agree if I would say that reading is very
important in our lives. Why is this so? Through reading we will be exposed
to somethings we don’t know, we will be informed, we can find solutions to
our problem. Not only that we will start to understand the world more.
It is also through reading that we can build strong foundation for
communications. It is the most important tools we use everyday to connect
with each other. In other word through reading you are connected with the
world. That’s why each one of us should find ways to enhance and develop
the skills in reading.

II ACCOMPLISHMENT
With these reason, teachers of San Pedro Central Elem. School really
tried their best to develop the reading ability of the pupils. The teachers
conducted reading remediation during their vacant time to those pupils
who really had difficulty in reading. This effort was very effective because
those children who can hardly syllabicate can now read. But this activity
did not pursue when pandemic started because the pupils just stay home
and have their distant learning. Now to solve this problem, the teachers
decided to call for a meeting with the parents. The teachers spearheaded by
our Reading Coordinator Mr. Junjay Tubigon Balde emphasized the
importance of developing the reading ability of the children. In order to
solve the problem, the teachers launched the program “BATA KA PA SA
GITNA NG PANDEMYA”. This is in coordination with the parents. In other
words, this program is a partnership between teachers and parents. BATA
KA PA stands for Batayang Kasanayan sa Pagbasa. After thorough talks and
consultations, the teachers asked the parents to create their own reading
materials. The tasked was successfully done with the guidance of the
teachers.
The teachers started the program last January 9,2021 by visiting their
purok and asked the parent volunteer to gathered all the children in the
purok hall. Mrs. Riza L. Buca together with her volunteer Mrs. Dahlia
Obedencio was assigned to conduct remedial reading from pupils who are
Grade I to Grade III while Mrs. Brenda S. Saquin with her parent volunteer
Mrs. Dayen Balde were tasked to conduct remedial reading from Grade IV
to Grade VI pupils. The pupils were so happy to see their teachers once
again. They really enjoyed the activity.

III PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED

Although the said activities run smoothly and successfully, there were
also problems which arises. Some parents did not allow their children to
participate the reading remediation because they were afraid that their
children might be affected with COVID 19. The teachers told them that
Safety Protocols will be strictly followed. Wearing of mask should be at all
times and children were always reminded to sanitize their hands every
now and then.

IV RECOMMENDATION
The school should allocate funds for this program. The funds will be used
for creating materials for reading as well as to give incentives for pupils
like giving them prizes such as notebooks, pencils and many other forms of
school supplies to encourage the pupils to participate actively .
