Every ULI board has a basic configuration. This can be taken from the board that was
removed or can be found in the configuration table in the Wiring Diagram.
In addition, the configuration depends on the installation location (user location) and on the
connected components (CAN, injector...).
NOTE Make absolutely sure that all CAN connectors and CAN ter-
minal connectors are installed. If the CAN bus is open or not
correctly terminated, communication problems can occur
(sometimes sporadically).
Because of a modification, the speaker on the ULI board must be installed with a speaker
mounting (2/Fig. 92 / p. 96). The parts for installation are shipped along with every ULI
board, Rev. ≥ 09.
New Flash Proms have been introduced for the ULI board because of a discontinuation of
parts. As a result, a modified routine is required to download the software to the ULI board.
Beginning with Revision status ≥ 08, the ULI board is being introduced with the new Flash.
The patch is required with system software version VA42x/VA60x and ≤ VB11M/VB22L.

• The ECC SW is downloaded using the SW Manager in the syngo service software.
(Downloading the ECC with new software / p. 112)
• With a new ECC, the correct user location has to be configured first, followed by down-
loading the current software (including the configuration). (ECC, downloading Software
to a new ECC / p. 114)
• If an ECC is transferred from one user location to another in a service situation, the
ECC user location can be changed via software. (Changing the ECC User
Location / p. 117)
• If there are problems with the SW download to the ECC, an “Emergency Download” can
be performed as a last resort. (Emergency SW Download / p. 132)
NOTE This query does not appear, if the ECC notices during its
boot routine that it is already configured to a user location
and/or has already saved a version of the application SW.
Every ECC user location (IP number) may exist only once in a
system.
If an ECC was incorrectly configured, an IP conflict exists,
and it can no longer be addressed with a ping.
3. Once the software has been downloaded, the ECC boots and the SW download is con-
cluded.
4. Click on <Exit> and <Finish> in the command bar to exit the SW Manager. Then end the
service session.
5. Perform a function check of the affected ECC.
If a new ECC is connected without having downloaded the application software (e.g.
when installing ia replacement ECC or an optional ECC), a query for User Location
appears on the touchpanel display of this ECC during the boot phase.
NOTE Every ECC user location (IP number) may exist only once in a
system.
If an ECC was incorrectly configured, an IP conflict exists,
and it can no longer be addressed with a ping.
NOTE If this query does not appear, a user location is already con-
figured in the new ECC. The software will then be down-
loaded immediately and automatically.
If software is also already loaded in the new ECC, no auto-
matic download will take place. The software currently
installed in the ECC will be booted up.
In this instance, it is mandatory to verify that the correct user
location is configured in the new ECC.
⇒ a) User location correctly configured:
Download the current SW to the ECC using the Software
Manager.
⇒ b) User location incorrectly configured:
First reconfigure the user location in the ECC accordingly
(Emergency SW Download / p. 132) and then download the
current SW to the ECC using the Software Manager.
4. Once the User Location has been selected, the ECC continues to boot, and contacts
the host computer. The application software is downloaded automatically to the ECC
(procedure up to VA42x/VA60x). Beginning with VB11x, the ECC stops at this point.

To perform an “Emergency Download”, the component must first be put into the “Emer-
gency Download Mode”.
The procedure is different for each component. Following an “Emergency Download”, the
component always boots to a default operating status (status when shipped).
The “Emergency Download" is used to bring the ECC into a defined status.
With this function, not only is the application software loaded, but all registry entries are
also set to a default value. To do this, the ECC must be set to the Emergency Download
Mode.
To put the ECC into the emergency download mode, the ECC must be rebooted and during
the bootup, the emergency download button (on the bottom of the ECC) must be pressed.
Methods to Restart the ECC (Reset):
• Reset on the ULI board
Remove the F8 fuse on the ULI board (operating voltage for the ECC) and insert it
again.
NOTE The power supply can be switched off and back on again in
the power distributor to get the ECC to reboot.
4. The user location must be configured during the download. To do this, a window with
the selection ECC_1 (patient table/trolley for MP System), ECC_2 (control cart) and
ECC_3 (control room) appears.
The corresponding user location must be selected.
See “Defining the User Location”: (ECC, downloading Software to a new
ECC / p. 114)
Subsequently, the SW download is continued (procedure up to VA42x/VA60x). Begin-
ning with VB11x, the ECC stops at this point. Continue with
Tab. 10 Downloading DDIS/ECC beginning with VB11X
5. The download is completed when the application user interface is displayed on all
ECCs.
NOTE All registry entries and configurations are set to the default
values.
The Emergency Download is used to bring the DDIS into a defined status. With this func-
tion, not only is the application software loaded, but all registry entries are also set to a
default value. To make it possible for the DDIS to boot into the Emergency Download
Mode, a Reset must be initiated and during the boot period, the Emergency Download
button on the DDIS must be pressed and held.
Procedure for an Emergency Download to the DDIS.
1. Unplug the power connector and plug it back in on the affected data display.
2. Press the Emergency Download button on the back of the DDIS and hold it pressed
until the window with the note about Emergency-Download appears (Fig. 117 / p. 135).
3. A window with the message about the emergency download will appear on the DDIS
display. If the process is not completed within the next 30 sec., the emergency down-
load will begin automatically.
If you wish to abort the emergency download, the component can be disconnected from
the power source within 30 sec. (in the system control cabinet, set the F11 fuse to
“OFF”, the 24V power supply is switched off). It then starts again in the original status.
4. If “DDIS_1” appears on the data display and remains displayed, set the user location
with the “Emergency Download button”.
