My Experience in Film Production I

Embarking on the journey of Film Production I at El Camino College has proven to be a

transformative experience, offering a comprehensive exploration of the intricacies of
filmmaking. I'm just much more involved in the filmmaking process, which makes it similar to
my film class from North High. But much more hands-on. Phone is the camera of choice here at
North High. But in El Camino, there are actual, highly expensive cameras from the film business
in the course, and in parts that require hours to put together and be functional. Not assembled
beforehand. The numerous interesting objects needed to capture the ideal reel are even more
fascinating. The boom mic has to be operated by someone. It's critical to include the
clapperboard in the frame, and who could forget the enormous amount of teamwork needed to
get one running.

The course's careful examination of the principles of film creation was among its most
insightful features. The semester established a solid foundation, covering everything from the
subtleties of camera control to the complexities of lighting and sound design. In addition to
demystifying the technical components of filmmaking, the hands-on experience in managing
these elements instilled a genuine respect for the creativity involved.

Since filmmaking is by its very nature a collaborative process, the semester served to
emphasize the value of strong teamwork. Diverse viewpoints were brought to the table when
working on different projects with peers, which fostered an environment where innovation
thrived. Managing the difficulties of juggling several responsibilities within a production team
provided insightful information on the workings of the business. In addition to simulating
real-world situations, this cooperative experience helped build critical interpersonal skills. And
that’s why I love it.
