 Why did I choose this topic?
After looking into different topics, I decided
to choose the subject of climate
change/global warming and the protesters
involved in trying to stop this increase and
affecting their futures.

I chose this topic because it is a very

important issue that needs raising awareness
of, and is something that interested me to
look into the topic further .

This is also relevant to today's British

Youth, as many young people are getting
involved with different climate strike
protests/demonstrations, by joining the
parades and climate activist groups.
 The research for the
productions
What I learnt from it
Throughout these first 4 units I have learnt, not
just many skills for creating two productions, but
I have also learnt a lot about the topic on climate
change, and how the youth are getting involved
into it.
I learnt different techniques for making a stop
motion, by watching multiple videos from past
stop-motion animations, and to see if I could try
and use some of those techniques into my own
work, such as to how the lighting set up should
be and the materials used.
Same with the short film, I watched past videos about
the same topic, and tried to use different use of colour
in my production.
Primary and secondary information
I had to look into research for both the stop-motion
and short film production, by looking on Google
for secondary research. But for the primary
research I creating focus groups , and sent emails
to people to reply to questions I sent to them.
For the stop motion, I looked into frame rate and
how its important, when creating an animation. I
also looked into who the first people to create a
stop motion were.
For my short film, I sent out a survey to get
feedback on what I should include in my film.
Then I also created an infographic with prior
research and data on the topic, and how to put it
into the short film.
 My different ideas
The first thought for my ideas, was a topic
that would make sense and connect with
the target audience, of 14 to 24 year olds.
As many people from this age range are
understanding a lot more about the problem
that climate change/global warming is
having around the world.

However, for both my productions I was able to include a message that the target audience would
be able understand.

By using different quotes talking about what we need to do, in order to save this planet from the
future effects of global warming, as it’s the audiences future that is going to have to face the
consequences of climate change in the future.

This was one of the ideas I had to make the videos seem more urgent, and was done in a way
where the target audience could understand the message.

 How I produced both productions
The hardest aspect of producing the short film was
getting people to play the different characters, but also

What I enjoyed about this production was
having the creativity to use any material for it,
and editing the images together to create the
animation, as well as adding the sound effects.

Over all I am happy with how both productions,

and think they went well for the circumstances,
however there are things I would try to improve for
future productions.
 My feedback
The feedback I received was from other students

After my short film, I sent out a survey to other students with both multiple choice questions
and written responses about the video.

A lot of the comments on what to improve, were already aspects which I noticed and have
planned to not make the same mistake again in future productions. Some of the feedback
comments included, people saying they could understand the message portrayed in the video
and that they could follow along with the storyline, which shows I met the target audience.

However, there were other comments in the feedback saying that the “actors could have been
portrayed better in the short film” which is good criticism as I can then work on character
building in the future. Another comment said for the “camera settings to stay the same”
which is one of the things I am to work on in future productions.
 Moving forward
From this unit, I have learnt many
different editing techniques, but also how
to batch process images for the stop
motion, and different skills needed to
produce a whole productions, with
communication skills to technical
knowledge and creativity.
I was good at staying patient through the
stop motion, as I had problems with batteries
running out, and got through sitting still for
hours taking pictures and moving the
objects, for the animation. I felt I was also
good at the video edits, with adding sound
and colour.
Some of the aspects I need to improve is
staying on track with the original ideas I
created in my proposal, as when it comes
to actually carrying out the production, I
change many ideas, and the end video
turns out a little bit different than my
script and storyboard, as I was unable to
shoot some scenes. But I kept changing
different scenes as well, mainly because
conditions weren't right, and different
problems arose too. I also need to make
sure my camera settings are correct before
each shot.
