PITCH

Secondary Research
When researching the term Snowflake, I
found that many people think of the basic
stereotype. This has been shown in the movie
fight club, a short film on YouTube called A
millennial interview and the snowflake test
made by businessmanDaniel Pena.

Snowflake Generation

Primary Research

The target audience, those the same age of the generation

snowflake, show that they understand the term
snowflake and partially agree with it.

In my focus group I found that they all knew someone of

the same age who they would call a snowflake, but they
believe it's unfair to say that their whole generation are
snowflakes.
◦ I decided to show stereotypes through characters
who are overly exaggerated versions of themselves. I
thought this would be a good comedic way to make
fun of each stereotype, to show the generations how
they think of each other is a bit to ridiculous.
◦ Stop Motion
◦ For my stop motion I decided to use people instead of

Stop motion objects or materials as it made sense for my subject. I

also thought this wouldpush me more outside my

Ideas
comfort zone, to try something harder.
◦ When planning my stop motion, I decided to create a
slapstick, where my characters would
have overly exaggerated expressions and big
gestures. I chose this as it fit my message
of stereotypes. This is all during a job interview.
◦ I also wantedto add how both generations are in the
wrong for expecting the stereotypes, so I decided that
both characters would be in clown makeup.
◦ Short Film

◦ For my short film I wanted to do something similar as

my stop motion, as the story is a short job interview.

Short film ◦ I took inspirationfrom a video on YouTube where a

millennial and a baby boomer had an argument where

Ideas
they joked about the differences between their
generations and other ones.
◦ I decided to create a comedy but with a twist. The
idea was that the main character would create the
whole situation inside her head, this would be the
reason whythe conversation between the interviewer
and the interviewee would be over exaggerated and
unrealistic because none of it was ever real.
Production
◦ My stop motion went well, I had everything prepared and I knew exactly what I wanted to capture.

◦ It took me 4 hours to get all the pictures done of my characters. It took a while to find a good way of taking
the images as sometimes the actors would move too fast before I could take the image of them moving.
After directing and telling them how I wanted them to move, I had all the pictures I needed.

◦ I finished my stop motion with a short clip of letters moving to create the message, 'you are both clowns'.

◦ I really enjoyed creating this as I had never tried to make a stop motion before, trying new things makes the whole
production process a lot more fun. I also think that everything went well with planning, producing the pictures and
editing.

◦ I hadone improvement to make with the video, to use title cards which added more informationso the
audience could understand what was going on better.
Production
◦ The beginigng of my planning went fine, as I knew what I wanted to do, and I knew the message I wanted to get
across I thought that everything would go perfectly.

◦ When it came to filming the camera angles and lighting were good and what I wanted but due to my lack of planning
I had to use a room with noisy computers, this compremised the audio and made my short film to a low qaulity.

◦ I learnt a lot when producing my short film. I learnt how important planning is and that I shouldn’t take it for
grantedwhen creating my next project. I also know now thatbuilding the story is very important as it left the
message of my film very lackluster, making the film boring.

◦ I found it hard to find actors that were free during the same time I was to film, so I need to make sure that I pre book
all my actors' weeks beforeI need them to make sure all filming goes well.
Peer feedback
◦ After gathering feedback from my audience, I
found that all of them thought that both of my
productions met the target audience.

◦ I agree with this, as my

productions was produced for the target
audience of 14-24 year olds, but I also know
that my short film and stop motion can be enjoyed
by those of older generations. I know this from my
research as my surveys told me that generation
snowflake and generation boomer feel similar
ways when it comes to stereotyoes about them.
◦ During these two productions I have
learnt that I work better when I push
myself and when I try something new.
◦ I need to improve my planning skills, I
have realised during filming how
important it is to plan everything too
Moving point, so I know exactly what I am

forward doing and when I am doing it.

◦ My camera angles and lighting
were good for both of my
productions and I think I have
improved on my directing skills
since my last project.
