E-FOLIO MEMOIRS

■ What were the best and worst parts of the Senior Project/Senior Seminar?

The best part was getting to choose what I get to make my project about. Making small movies was one of my
favorite things to do when I was younger with my friends. The worst part was trying to get everything perfect
from the lighting of the scene or changing the script over and over and sometimes even scrapping an idea and
starting all over again.

■ List three things you now know after completing your Senior Project.

-I learned that I enjoyed being more of a cameraman than being the main character in my own film because then
it becomes biased towards myself getting all the credit.

-Writing a whole script by yourself is not very fun since your imagination of implementing your ideas becomes
limited unless you have other people bring their ideas. Having people who share the same

-Filming took a lot more time than I thought. Especially when you’re filming with friends because you can easily
get sidetracked.

■ Which aspect of the Senior Project/Senior Seminar stretched you the most? How did you feel about and react to
this challenge?

-Post-Production stretched the filming the most because I was never really good with editing videos. I always had
someone else edit a video for me or show me how to use a certain editing tool. I only ever learned how to handle a
camera and create a script.

Writing the script took a while because I wanted to make sure it made sense. It’s hard to make a good story
without it being similar to other stories that are already created.

What actually took a long stretch for my project was filming. The reason why is because

■ How has the Senior Project/Senior Seminar changed you (skills, attitudes, work habits, capabilities, confidence,
poise, presentation, etc.)?

Making the senior project made me realize how much I needed to work on my work habits. I used to be on top of
everything that had to do with homework until COVID hit. After being in quarantine for a long time, my habits got
worse. Staying at home 24/7 impacted my wellbeing.

Making a small film with friends that you can get along with makes the experience a lot more fun. Although you don’t
get work done as fast, it’s still a positive experience.
■ Has this experience influenced your future plans?

It did influence a little bit of my future plans because I wanted to be an actor before. As cool as that sounds, I
decided to be realistic and try to become a CNA. Growing up, and seeing people get sick and sometimes die
around me hurts a lot because I can’t do anything but watch.

■ What would you do differently if you had to do the whole Senior Project/Senior Seminar process again?

I would try to be more prepared on what I know about filming. I only really know the basic stuff of editing and
filming a video. I would also ask for help more often so I can get it done faster.

■ What advice do you have for next year’s seniors?

Try to finish your Senior Project as soon as possible because eventually it will catch up to you and you will feel
overwhelmed. At least try to finish bit by bit so you don’t fall behind. Ask for advice from teachers or peers to have them
criticize your project to give you tips.

■ What grade would you give yourself for your Senior Project and what justification do you have for that grade?

A- The reason why is because I planned ahead of time and finished the film
