The best part about senior seminar was being able to work at your own pace because it was
nice to not have to worry about other people since the whole project was your idea. It was also
nice to be able to work by yourself so you didn’t have to think about the participation of other
group members and the small groups was also nice. The worst part in my opinion was the dress
rehearsal and having to present our presentation multiple times to the whole class.
■ List three things you now know after completing your Senior Project.
Three things that I learned from my senior project are that it is hard and takes time to
complete something efficiently. You have to take time out of your day to finish the things you
want to finish. And the last thing that I learned was that you have to put effort into something
for it to meet the standards.
■ Which aspect of the Senior Project/Senior Seminar stretched you the most? How did
you feel about and react to this challenge?
The aspect that stretched me the most was having to create an 8 minute presentation because
I hate presenting in front of people and I get really overwhelmed so I think that was the biggest
stretch for me. Another thing that was a stretch for me was that before I started my senior
project I didn’t know my mentor so it was a small stretch to work with someone I didn’t know. I
didn’t like the fact that I had to make an 8 minute presentation and have to present it to my
class but I still did it and I practiced a lot so I met the requirements.
■ How has the Senior Project/Senior Seminar changed you (skills, attitudes, work
habits, capabilities, confidence, poise, presentation, etc.)?
From senior seminar I think I have more determination to finish things and have a better work
ethic. I think that my presenting abilities have also improved because before I hated presenting
and now I don’t really mind it. I also think that I don’t procrastinate as much as before.
■ Has this experience influenced your future plans?
Well I originally wanted to do something related to physical therapy so that is why I picked this
as my senior project but as the year went on I decided I didn’t want to go into a career field
related to this. So I guess it influenced me into showing me what I want to do for a career.
■ What would you do differently if you had to do the whole Senior Project/Senior
Seminar process again?
I would definitely take more pictures because I only took a couple because I didn’t really think
about it but now as I am creating my presentation I don’t have very many pictures so it has
been a little difficult. I would also log my time down the day I worked on the project instead of
waiting until the last minute to do it because that is what I did and I had to find the football and
basketball schedule which took a lot of time.
■ What advice do you have for next year’s seniors?
My advice for next year seniors is to find a project that isn’t very complex and make sure you
take pictures and log your time down so when you are creating your time log it goes by faster. I
would also show up to senior sem even if you think it is boring because it is very beneficial
when you go into class because you can ask questions and get a lot of work done.
■ What grade would you give yourself for your Senior Project and what justification do
you have for that grade? The grade that I would give myself is probably a B. I would give
myself a B mainly because I put a lot of effort into the project at the beginning and the middle
of the year but towards the end of the year I started to slack. I also would say I deserve a B
because I had all of my work done on time but I was late to class a lot. I also would say that I
did good on making my presentation and having all the required materials that were needed.
