E-FOLIO MEMOIRS

■ What were the best and worst parts of the Senior Project/Senior Seminar?
The best part was shadowing my mentor. He had a lot of great advice and insight regarding the project
and life in general. Speaking with him before I started my project gave me a lot more confidence in the
project.
■ List three things you now know after completing your Senior Project.
I now know how to code and feel more confident around cyber security. I also know how to research
better because It was important to be able to find the right things while I learned. I also know how to
use software I've never used before.
■ Which aspect of the Senior Project/Senior Seminar stretched you the most? How did you feel about
and react to this challenge?
The hardest part of my project was the actual coding portion. A few hours through my project I learned
that this is a project I really didn’t enjoy. That really stressed me out and it got to the point where it felt
like a huge chore. By that point though, I had already sunk a lot of my time into this project and it felt
wrong to turn back.
■ How has the Senior Project/Senior Seminar changed you (skills, attitudes, work habits, capabilities,
confidence, poise, presentation, etc.)?
Overall, I have developed a few skills during the project, mostly being much more proficient at coding. I
also developed some more persistence, which helped me get through the project. Other than that most
of the skills I had utilized during the project were behaviors I had previously acquired.
■ Has this experience influenced your future plans?
It made me realize cyber security is something I don't want to do in the future. Doing this project helped
me get more experience in what this job requires and I realized it wouldn't work for me. I realized I don't
get much of a sense of accomplishment when doing a large project that I will never be able to see.
■ What would you do differently if you had to do the whole Senior Project/Senior Seminar process
again?
Realistically, I would pick a topic that was more enjoyable and less than an overall chore. Other than
that I would’ve gotten it completely finished over the summer. I would also try to find a project more
geared towards beginners.
■ What advice do you have for next year’s seniors?
Pick something you can see yourself doing. If it's something you aren't sure you will like to spend 15+
hours doing, change your topic. Other than that I would just say find something that interests you and
stick with it.
■ What grade would you give yourself for your Senior Project and what justification do you
have for that grade?

I would give myself a B+ because I think I did what I set out to do, but I didn't necessarily do anything
amazing or above and beyond.
