Mr. Mukesh Kumar Sahoo

QC Lab Assistant He shall be responsible for sampling, casting and testing of concrete
9777767463 cubes in the presence of Quality Engineer as well as client representative.

He shall be responsible for storing of all materials. Also, responsible for

Store Officer maintaining the record of incoming and outgoing and up to date stock
details of materials.

1.8 Duration/ Sequence

 Initially workability of concrete is checked and then sampling is done as per the IS 1199.
 Number of cube shall be casted based of IS 456.
 Identification of cube shall be mentioned once the concrete cube is set.
 Cubes shall be place into water for required number of days.
 Compression test shall be conducted as per IS 516.
1.9 Procedure
 SAMPLING:
 At the batching plant and site, the random sampling of fresh concrete is to be
taken from the transit mixer. Certain quantity of concrete shall be allowed to
fall down below before collecting the sample.
 Sample can also be taken directly from laboratory mixer, or collected from site
after pumping of concrete.
 The sample is to be collected in non-absorbent metal tray/wheel borrow.
Collected sample shall be thoroughly hand mixed with a spade to obtain
uniform properties.
 CUBE CASTING:
Protection of
reference points  The concrete shall be filled into the cubical mould in three equal layer (not less
than 5cm deep) and each layers shall be compacted by hand or by vibration.
 When compacted by hand, each layer shall be tamped with 35 strokes by
standard tamping bar.
 After compaction of the top layer, the excess concrete shall be gently tapped
to close the voids left by the tamping bar.
 The test specimen shall be stored in a place, free from vibration, in moist air of at
least 90% relative humidity and a temperature of 27±2ºC for 24 hours ± ½ hour,
from the time of addition of water to the dry ingredient. After this period, the
specimen shall be marked and removed from the moulds and submerged in

clean, fresh water, under the controlled temperature of 27±2º till they have been
tested.
 AGE AT TEST
 Test shall be conducted at recognized ages of the test specimens, the more
common being 7 and 28 days. The age shall be calculated from the time
addition of water to the dry ingredients.
 NUMBER OF SPECIMENS
 At least three specimens shall be made for testing at each specified age.
 TESTING PROCEDURE:
 specimen stored in water shall be tested immediately on removal from the water
and while they are still in the wet condition. Wet condition is also maintained by
covering the specimens with wet squeezed burlap.
 The bearing specimen of the testing machine shall be wiped clean and dry loose
sand or other material removed from the surfaces of the specimen which are to
be in contact with compression platens.
 In case of the cubes, the specimen is placed in the machine in such a manner
that load shall be applied to opposite sides of the cubes as cast that is, not to
the top and bottom.
 The axis of the specimen shall be carefully aligned with the center thrust of the
spherically seated platen.
 No packing shall be used between the faces of the test specimen and the steel
platen of the testing machine.
 The pace rate shall be set to 5.2 kN/sec for 15cm cube to uniformly load the
specimen.
 The load shall be applied without shock, and increased continuously until the
resistance of the specimen to the increasing load breaks down and no greater
load can be sustained.
 The maximum load applied to the specimen shall then be recorded and the
appearance of the concrete and any unusual failure in the type of failure shall
be noted.
 CALCULATION:
 The measured compressive strength of the specimen shall be calculated by
dividing the maximum load applied to the specimen during the test by the cross
section area shall be expressed to the nearest N/mm2.

 Average of three values shall be taken as the representative of the batch

provided the individual variation is not more than ±15 percent of the average.

1.10 Inspection & Testing

Relevant inspection & testing shall be carried out in accordance with Indian Standards, which
summarizes various characteristics to be checked at different stages of construction. QA/QC
Engineer in coordination with RMC, shall ensure stage wise compliance of the requirements
shown in ITP (Ref: MUM1X0-LWC-XX-ZZ-RP-C-0007 – 97) and record the result of test in the
concrete cube register (Ref: MUM1X0-LWC-XX-ZZ-RP-C-0007 – 83)

1.11 Quality Records

 Concrete Cube register (MUM1X0-LWC-XX-ZZ-RP-C-0007 – Page No.78).

1.12 HSE Risk Assessment & Control Measures

Concern Engineer and related workers will be required to wear the required standard
Protective & Safety
PPE, in particular Hi-Vis jackets must be worn at all times. (refer MUM1X0-LWC-XX-ZZ-HS-
