City High holds 2023 SGC elections, council meeting

Egar to serve as co-chairperson anew, Surabasquez is new secretary

The Lipa City National High School convened various internal and stakeholders, as well as community members,
to hold the 2023 School Governance Council meeting and elections, February 27.

The activity, which was held at the
school's multi-purpose gymnasium,
started with a short opening program
followed by a comprehensive
orientation on SGC and other school-
related matters and updates.
Dr. Alma G. Marquez, Head Teacher
III of the Araling Panlipunan
Department and designated SGC Co-
Chairperson, expressed her gratitude
to everyone who were present during
the activity as she highlights that the
success of the school in rearing
socially-responsible learners benefits
greatly from the collaboration
between the school and its
stakeholders.
Marquez also discussed the
provisions of Division Memorandum
No. 046 series of 2023 which
mandates the election of new SGC
Officers, specifically for the SGC Co-
chairperson and Secretary positions
which shall be selected from the
external stakeholders.
To ensure the smooth flow of the
activity, the guidelines on the
conduct of the SGC elections
embedded in DepEd Order No. 026
series of 2022 were also discussed.
After the conduct of pre-election
activities which began during the
previous week, the results of the
secret ballot voting conducted bared
that Mrs. Rosario C. Egar and Mrs.
Merly M. Surabasquez were elected
as SGC co-chairperson and
secretary, respectively.
Egar, a former LCNHS faculty
member, shall serve the SGC for the
second straight year - getting herself
an extended time and another year
to continue her visions for the
development of the school and for
the benefit of its main clientele: the
learners.
Surabasquez, meanwhile, is the
current president of the school's
General Parent-Teacher Association.
As GPTA president, Surabasquez
has been successful in leading the
planning and implementation of
various school projects and programs
that has greatly contributed in
different aspects of the school's
growth as a learning institution.
In her acceptance speech, Egar
vowed to do anything she can to
assist the school in organizing
programs and projects intended for
Cityhenyos. She also thanked the rest
of the council members who trusted
her for a second time as one of the
top officials of City High's SGC.
Surabasquez, meanwhile, assured
the school officials and stakeholders
present during the activity that her
passion of serving the school and the
Cityhenyo learners will continue even
after her role as primary
representative of the parents'
association lapses by the end of the
current school year.

The new set of officials of the Lipa City National High School's SGC is set to take their oath of office on March 10.
