ASSESSMENT REPORT
TEAM BUILDING SEMINAR & BASIC LEADERSHIP TRAINING

BACKGROUND
The Team Building Seminar and Basic Leadership Training was conducted
last July 22-23, 2023 at Villa Espieranza Resort in Pansol, Laguna. The
event was held concurrently with the Team Building event of Team 1Burol.

The event was attended by the SK hopefuls together with their advisers
and coordinators.

PURPOSE

The event was conducted to fulfill the following purposes:

 Get to know each other more.


 Cultivate teamwork, camaraderie, and unity within the team.
 Develop each participant’s self-confidence and minimize, if not
eliminate, their shyness when dealing and socializing with other
people.
 Teach them the basics of leadership as potential youth
ambassadors of the community.
 Introduce the S.A.V.E. T.H.E. Youth program.

OBSERVATIONS & ASSESSMENTS

Overall, the event was successful at fulfilling the purpose it was intended
for. We received active participation from the team, especially during the
discussions and activities. It was evident after the training that the bond
within the team strengthened and their camaraderie obviously improved –
there were no more shyness and apprehensions when talking with one
another.

This, however, was not the only purpose of the undertaking. There are
still a lot of improvements that need to be made. These will be gradually
worked on in our upcoming training and coaching sessions.

In lieu of this, here are the individual observations and assessments of


each participant:

 In terms of public speaking, he is good when prepared. But when
asked to deliver impromptu, he tends to get rattled and be all over
the place. His nervousness becomes apparent. However, the good
thing is he is quick to adjust within the period.
 He is being overshadowed by Kei during their breakout sessions in
terms of suggestions and contributions.
 He needs to speak out more and be the leader of the team instead
of just being on the sidelines and waiting to be instructed what to
do.
 In terms of socializing with others, he is the one to be admired by
the team as he is very friendly and approachable.

 She is intelligent and speaks with substance.
 In terms of public speaking, she is one of the better speakers in the
group. She just needs to be careful with her choice of words like
using the term “utang na loob” which to others may seem
inappropriate.
 Lessen the “bossy” attitude and listen to others’ suggestions more.
 Needs to be more active in terms of attendance at their events. She
may be intelligent and a good public speaker, but if people do not
know you, these would not matter.
 Needs to be more approachable to others.

 Undoubtedly, one of the better, if not the best, speakers in the
team. He speaks with conviction and has the appropriate choice of
words. He always has impact statements which make his speeches
interesting.
 It is good to be very competitive, but he should know the
limitations of being such.
 Needs a little more improvement in terms of socializing with
others.

 She tends to be very shy, which was apparent during her speech.
 Among the members of the team, she needs the most training in
terms of public speaking.
 She has low self-esteem.
 She needs to be more vocal and provide more suggestions.
 She needs to socialize more.

 Also, she is one of the better speakers of the group because she
speaks from experience, so she sounds sincere and authentic.
 However, during the discussions, she was very timid and shy. She
needs to speak out more as she can contribute more.
 She needs to be careful with her pronunciation as she suffers from
P and F difficulties. It is better for her to speak in the vernacular as
she is effective with it.
 One of the friendlier members of the group. Even though she is the
youngest, she is one of the more experienced in terms of life which
is why her maturity level is above everyone else’s.

 She must be the most approachable face in the team. Her smile is
very inviting and her disposition very pleasant.
 Although the content is there, Camille needs a lot of work in terms
of her delivery particularly with the structure and cohesion of her
sentences.
 She has the habit of always looking up when speaking, so we really
need to work on her eye contact.
 Needs to develop her confidence more as she has the experience
on leadership to back it up.

 She is one of the shiest members of the group.
 In terms of public speaking, she is around 60% there. The content
is there but due to her shyness, she has the tendency to not finish
her statements and just laugh. This is a bad habit that needs to be
corrected ASAP.

 But during their breakout sessions, she was seen contributing so


what needs to be enhanced is her confidence when in front of
other people.
 She needs to be careful with her grammar, for example, using
“confident” instead of “confidence”.
 Within the group, she is one of the loudest and friendliest.

 One of the more mature members of the team.
 He is by far the one really exposed to politics and vocal about his
preferences.
 He has leadership capabilities as evident during their breakout
sessions. He is one of the people who led their team during their
discussions.
 In terms of public speaking, the potential is there. He just needs to
work on content, organization of thoughts and cohesion.
 Delivery wise, because of his deep baritone voice, he tends to
sound monotonous OR very commanding when he raises his voice.
He needs to learn the balance in his voice and use proper stress
and intonation when speaking.
 Moreover, physical appearance wise, he is not approachable and
tends to seem snobbish at times. We need to work on his
socializing skills.

PERFORMANCE NEEDS IDENTIFIED

Here are the major items that the group has to improve on:

PUBLIC SPEAKING
 Everyone needs to improve their public speaking skills.
 They need to improve on their content and delivery.
 Content-wise, they need to be more organized with their thoughts
and cohesive with their ideas. They also need to always
ACKNOWLEDGE and RECOGNIZE Kap DC in their speeches.
 Delivery-wise, they have a lot to improve on. Their eye contact,
gestures, stance and most importantly delivery.

SOCIAL SKILLS
 The team needs to be more sociable when in public.
 They need to work on greeting the people they walk past by and
to always wear a smile when outside.
 This is also applicable within the 1Burol Team. They need to be
more approachable and approaching to the Kagawads and most
especially to the coordinators.

ATTENDANCE & PUNCTUALITY


 They need to improve on their attendance at our scheduled
events. This is a huge exposure and publicity for them.
 Tardiness is their worst habit. Only Charisse was on time in all our
events. This needs to be fixed immediately.

RESPONSIVENES
 They need to be more responsive in the GC whenever being asked
questions. Although this has improved significantly after the team
building and leadership training.
 Hopefully, this continues moving forward.

IMPROVEMENT PLAN

As part of our improvement plan for the identified areas for


improvement and opportunities for growth we have several activities
lined up. These are also part of the original training timeline for the
group. We will just incorporate the identified AFIs into the activities.
