INTRODUCTION
With the onslaught of global pandemic, the world of education
never sees it as a threat but instead a challenge to bravely and boldly
overcome this as education is the strong warrior amidst the deluge of
misinformation. This can be the powerful tool to raise awareness and
instill in the young minds the knowledge and values such as resiliency,
positivity and unity in the face of this adversity.
Education is the equalizer which can be the foundation to build a
stronger nation. With the unified force, this can be an opportunity to get
the right and proper information in order to understand the escalating
situation more comprehensively.
In response to the standards and as the new norm requires, this
module contains lessons and is readily packed to make you go through
each step to better understand the lessons with the different activities
which can potentially develop your communication skills and enable you
to master the required learning competencies.
These are the following tasks which you have to diligently answer
and complete on the given timetable.

What I Need to Know - This sets the goal which can

guide and motivate you to achieve the expected learning competency at
the end of this given time.

What I Know - This is a diagnostic test to determine prior

knowledge of the lesson you are about to study. This gives you the bird’s
eyeview of the lesson which will prepare you to learn the new pieces of
information dished out on a particular timeline. In addition, this reveals
your expected learning takeaway after the session.

What’s In - This helps you recall the previous lesson and

enables you to connect to the new one. This also tests how much you
have learned and mastered from the lesson taught.

What’s New - This is an activity which stirs your interest

about the visual representations that can give you quick information or
prepare you for the new lesson you are about to take.

What Is It -This provides you with the simplified

information which can lead you to knowledge acquisition based on the
theories and principles incorporated to help you achieve and master the
learning competency.

What’s More - These are varied activities and

exercises which can help you deepen your understanding on the subject
matter taught. These range from the simple to complex depending on the
degree of difficulty and the type of lessons presented.

What I Have Learned - This is to wrap up what you have

learned which also gives you a chance to express what you have learned
in your own way and pace.

What I Can Do - This provides you ways to integrate your

knowledge to a realistic and doable practice which further your
understanding of the lesson.

Assessment -This evaluates your overall understanding of

the lesson and assesses your level of learning on the lesson in this module.
May I just give you a few reminders as you go through each
module.
1. Please take time to go through each page and patiently read
the information each page provides.
2. Answer the different activities expected of you and write your
answers in your notebook.
3. Digest the information presented through visual
representations.
4. You may take down notes on a separate notebook.
5. Sharing of answers is a form of cheating. Let us avoid that. Let
us work hard to get things accomplished and practice honesty and
integrity. The important thing is you TRY.
5. Refrain from writing anything on the page and handle this
with care as the next user awaits to see this as you were.
6. Should there be any questions which arise, please call the
teacher or the subject teacher for some clarifications. Please refrain
from posting any comments in any platform such as Facebook and
others. Refer to the number indicated on the module.

May you enjoy doing one task to another as these activities are
outlined to develop your critical thinking as well as communication skills
which are the end goals of the 21st Century Learning.

What I Have Learned

I learned that:
 Visual representations like graphs and tables present a clearer
information.
 Data can be easily grasped because they are shown in figures,
images and there are very limited words yet present a volume of
information.

What I Can Do
Directions: Plot this into table and graph of your choice.

The medical health workers have been working in the frontline. They
risk their lives every day serving the people who are sick and rendering
selfless dedication, hardwork, sacrifice and commitment. They are
considered the modern heroes of this pandemic.

In a span of a month or so, they have been working day and night
saving the lives of other people. Despite their being vulnerable to this
COvid-19, a lot of them go to work and dutifully serve.

May 24, 2020 data revealed that there 866 nurses, 676 physicians, 143
nursing attendants, 88 medical technologist, 43 radiologic technologist,
294 non-medical personnel.
Assessment
Study the following data. Plot the information in the table and explain it
in three sentences.
MANILA, Philippines —The number of overseas Filipino workers
(OFWs) infected with the virus that causes the coronavirus disease 2019
(COVID-19) rose to 2,455 as 24 new cases were confirmed as of May 20.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday also said

that nine more COVID-infected OFWs have recovered, bringing the total
of recoveries to 858. This is 35% of the total confirmed cases.

About 1,300 OFWs are currently getting treated for COVID-19, it

added. Four other OFWs, however, were not so fortunate as they succumbed
to the deadly respiratory disease, according to DFA, raising the total of
fatalities to 284.

“Despite the decrease in the daily rate of recoveries reported by the

DFA through its Foreign Service Posts today, the total number of overseas
Filipinos who recovered from COVID-19 at 858 cases is now three times
more than the total fatalities at 284 and comprises almost 35% of the total
confirmed cases,” the department said in a statement.
Europe hosted the most number of OFWs with COVID-19, which is 748
cases, followed by the Middle East and Africa with 712 cases.

In the Philippines, a total of 13,221 individuals were confirmed to have

COVID-19, of which 9,447 are active cases, as of May 20. Nearly 3,000
patients were able to recover but 842 have so far died.
