Welcome to the English 7 Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) Module on Expressing


One’s Beliefs/Convictions based on a Material Viewed (EN7VC-IV-i.16)!

This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by educators both
from public and private institutions to assist you, the teacher or facilitator in helping
the learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum while overcoming
their personal, social, and economic constraints in schooling.

This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Furthermore, this also aims to help
learners acquire the needed 21st century skills while taking into consideration their
needs and circumstances.

The hand is one of the most symbolized part of the human body. It is often used to
depict skill, action and purpose. Through our hands we may learn, create and
accomplish. Hence, the hand in this learning resource signifies that you as a learner
is capable and empowered to successfully achieve the relevant competencies and
skills at your own pace and time. Your academic success lies in your own hands!

This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful opportunities for
guided and independent learning at your own pace and time. You will be enabled to
process the contents of the learning resource while being an active learner.

What I Need to Know

This module was designed and written with you in mind. It is here to help you master
the competency in expressing your beliefs and convictions based from a viewed
material. The scope of this module permits it to be used in many different learning
situations. The language used recognizes the diverse vocabulary level of students.
The lessons are arranged to follow the standard sequence of the course. But the order
in which you read them can be changed to correspond with the textbook you are now
using.

After going through this module, you are expected to:


1. find the purpose and message of the material viewed
2. identify different viewing comprehension strategies;
3. apply appropriate viewing comprehension strategies based on material viewed;
and
4. express ideas, beliefs, or convictions based on a viewed material.

Viewing Comprehension
1 Strategies

When the pandemic started, we were required to stay home for health and
safety purposes. Most of us relied on the technology available such as cellphones,
televisions, radios, and others. We somehow made ourselves busy with the virtual
world most of us can access every day. Write down all the activities that you were
able to do while at home.

What’s In

Just like reading selections, viewed materials such as films are also influenced
by culture, history, environment, and other factors. These are reflected through their
language, actions, values, traditions, and a lot more. It is vital that at this stage you
are able to grasp which among the contents of the material viewed show the
influences that is relevant into understanding the film better.

Notes to the Teacher


Encourage students to write any word which they think has a
relationship with the given keywords. This will be based on their
previous knowledge or idea.

Help students search the given link found on Youtube ((21) Five Philippines
Folklore Creatures - YouTube) about the different Philippine folklore creatures. Allow
them to spot which among its contents showcase values and tradition.
Activity 1: Answer the following from the Youtube video viewed.
1. How did the scene start?
2. What were the five mythological creatures mentioned from the video?
3. Which among the practices are still being done today?
4. What is the purpose of the video?
5. Do you think these creatures are real? Why or why not?

The Philippine Transportation During the Pandemic


One of the most affected sectors in our economy during the pandemic was
that of the public transportation. The length of the
pandemic took a toll on their source of income which
resulted to fewer available public vehicles. Every
regulation had to be followed for the health and safety
of everyone. On the part of the commuters, a
facemask and face shield were necessary together
with the temperature check and constant
disinfection.

When we see an image, a video, an infographic, or any other viewing material, we


have to be mindful to understand the overall content and purpose of the material. As
a student, and a lifelong learner, your duty is to ensure that the information you get
from the viewed material will not be mishandled.

To help you better, here are some strategies when viewing.

➢ Literal Comprehension
This is the part where you are ask to label, list, name, relate, recall,
repeat, or state what you have already seen and understand. An example of
this is the image below. Spot the differences between the two pictures and list
them down. Write your answer on your activity sheet.

➢ Reorganize
When you are asked to reorganize, this means that you should classify,
regroup, rearrange, assemble, collect, or categorize the materials
viewed or its contents.

➢ Infer
Under inferential comprehension, your task is to infer, predict or guess.
Infer from the given picture below the message it portrays.

➢ Evaluate
In evaluation, you are to analyze, appraise, evaluate, justify,
reason, criticize, or judge from the material viewed.

➢ Appreciate
This is the stage where we critique, appraise, comment, or appreciate
the viewing material.

What is It

Viewing materials have their primary purpose. It is


generally either to inform, entertain, or persuade. As a viewer,
you have to understand and comprehend the underlying purpose
and message of the material. Being able to understand this
broadens your comprehension as to why such material was made
such way. It is easier to follow the logic of the material when we
understand their purpose.
