D. ANALYSIS
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity Teacher’s Note
Now that we already
know the definition of
truthfulness, accuracy,
and viewing.
Now I’ll be discussing
the indication of
truthfulness and
accuracy of the
material viewed. This
will help you to
determine if the
information you read or
viewed online is
credible, reliable, and
valid, therefore you
should be able to
evaluate if the material
is accurate and
truthful. Be it for social
media posts, news,
educational articles, or
videos. As a student,
you should be vigilant
with the post you
viewed online, you
should not easily
believe in everything
you see online,
especially if their
purpose is to inform,
educate and or
persuade.
The teacher will share
the indication on how
to determine the
truthfulness and
accuracy of the
material viewed.
1. The Same
information can
be found in
other reliable
sources.

Take note that the

main facts presented in
the material viewed.
Compare it with
multiple sources. Are
the information or facts
presented present in
other sources? If the
information is the same
in multiple sources
then you have truthful
and accurate
information.
For example:
The information must
be found on this news
networks like news tv5,
GMA News, and ABS-
CBN news.

2. The sources
used for
documentation
are known to be
generally
reliable.

Establishing the
accuracy of multimedia
sources can be
challenging because
they often represent a
combination of facts,
opinions, and
perspectives from
different individuals.

For example,
newspapers, books and
etc. And do not trust
anonymous sources.
3. The author of
the information
is known to
have expertise
on that subject.

We all know that

anyone can make an
assertion or a
statement about
something but only
someone who knows
that thing can make a
reasonably reliable
statement or assertion
about it. So research
the person who is
making the statement.
For example, the Book
of Relativity was
authored by Albert
Einstein the father of
modern physics.
Another example is the
DOH the expert source
of COVID-19 updates.
4. The
presentation is
free from logical
fallacies or
errors.

An important aspect of
accuracy is the
intellectual integrity of
the item. Errors of logic
occur primarily in the
presentation of
conclusions, opinions,
interpretations,
editorials, ideas, etc.
Examples of logical
fallacies are name-
calling and insults. To
attack a person’s
character. To question
their motives, calling
them hypocrites or any
argument that targets
the source and etc.

5. Quotations are
“in context”.

So the meaning of the

original statement
must be kept and no
opinions and
assumptions about it
should be made.
Again, what are the five The student will The teacher will
(5) indications of respond. acknowledge the
truthfulness and answer.
accuracy?
Very good!
If we have indications
of the truthfulness and
accuracy of the
material viewed, we
have also an indication
that information may
not be accurate and
not true.
1. Facts cannot be
verified or are
contradicted on
the other
sources.
2. Sources used are
known to be
unreliable or
highly biased.
3. Sources used or
Cited is
inadequate or
non-existent.
4. Quotations are
taken out of
context and given
a different
meaning.
5. Presence of one
or more logical
fallacies.
These are the five (5)
indications that may be
not accurate or true.

truthfulness and
accuracy?
Very good everyone.

Class always
remember, in
determining the
truthfulness and
accuracy of the
information is
important in making
decisions. The acquired
facts or information
should be reliable and
must be based on
truth. Your decisions
may be wrong if you
have inaccurate and
misleading facts or
information. Knowing
the truthfulness and
accuracy of the
material viewed is the
foundation of good
communication. And
always put in our mind
that not everything we
see or read on social
media is true and
accurate. Factual
information is a must!
Our awareness of what
is happening around
us should always be
based on the truth.
Again, Truthfulness is
based on facts and
truth and nothing but
the truth.
Accuracy is exact and
correct.
Viewing is the act of
seeing and taking a
look.
F. Application
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Teacher’s
Activity Note
Now let’s have an activity.

This is the checklist of the indication used

to determine the accuracy and truthfulness
of the material viewed. Identify if the
indication is accurate or not accurate.

not important in
judging what
they have to say.
6. It is a bad idea to
read or listen to
many different
stories, or
reports, on the
same
issue/subject to
help you
determine where
the truth lies.
7. Determining the
knowledge and

speaker in a

important.
