NARRATIVE REPORT FOR NUTRITION MONTH 2019

Every year, in the month of July, the whole country purposely celebrates the nutrition month to
spread the message about proper nutrition for all Filipinos. For this year’s theme “Kumain ng wasto
at maging aktibo…push natin to!”. The theme encourages everyone to advocate and realize the
importance of healthy diets, increased physical activity and reduced sedentary behavior. Pushing the
advocacy means that each and every one can contribute to better nutrition and physical activity for
better health. In line with this, we conducted different activities to show to our pupils the right
attitude towards good health and eating habits.

On July 8, 2019, we conducted a 5-minute dance exercise. This dance exercise should be done every
Monday for the whole month of July. Since this year’s theme encourages everyone to be more active
in different physical activities we decided to put this in our activities, to show to our pupils that
exercising is really a big help to have a good health and good body posture.

On July 12, 2019, a Cleanest Area Competition was conducted. The AP Coordinator/ SPG Adviser
together with the AP Club and SPG Club Officers take the initiative to check the area of every grade
level. We also went inside their rooms to check the following: their trashcans, cleaning materials,
comfort room (if there’s water, soap and if their CRs were functioning). We include this because we
believe that environment is also one of the factors that affects our health. Having a nice, clean and
safe surrounding this will help us to have a good health.

On July 16, 2019, Poster and Slogan Making Contest was happened. The competition was
categorized by Kindergarten, Primary and Intermediate. We start the competition at 1:00 PM and
ends at 3:00 PM. For primary level 4 participants compete from grade 2-3; and the 1 st place was won
by grade two pupils, followed by grade three pupils. For Intermediate Level, grade six pupils won the
first place, next is grade five and followed by grade four pupils. Since there are students that are not
good at physical activities we decided to include poster and slogan making, though we all know that
these are kinds of sedentary behavior.

This activity should be done on July 18, but because of bad weather on July 23-24, 2019, we
conducted the Men’s and Women’s Singles Badminton Competition. Many students participated in this
activity so one day was not enough to finish the competition. Physical activities are more important in
our health, especially if we are on a diet; it’s called healthy diet.
Furthermore, a classroom-based food fest was happened on July 26, 2019. Students brought foods
like: fruits, meats, eggs, some made fruit salads, sandwiches, sopas. There are also presentations
happened inside their classroom. For the awarding of winners, it was held at School’s Covered Court
on July 29,2019. Medals and Certificate of recognition was awarded to all winners. I also gave
certificate of participation to all who participated in the program.

Indeed, it was full of fun and pupils are able to grasp the message of having nutrition month
celebration every year. Furthermore, it was a meaningful celebration for all of us especially the
teaching force of Benito Nieto Elementary School.
