1. Introduction
This document provides a general description of the content for Condition Monitoring System (CBM)
SERVICE LEVEL ADVANCED
Selection of the Service Level is granted on the level of individual machine. This means, that
there could be a mix of different service levels applied to machines of different criticality
that are physically installed on the same vessel

2. Content description
Service level ADVANCED offerings for CBM includes its default configuration of sensoring and data ac-
quisition layer both for permanent and hand held option. By default, there will be an entire scope of Ser-
vice Level STANDARD contract provided, extended with additional features that in details are described
below

2.1. Hardware requirements

Minimum required hardware infrastructure for CBM Service Level ADVANCED is to install CBM Perma-
nent product line with minimum 5 vibration sensors.

Note that CBM Service Level ADVANCED can not be delivered for machines equipped only with CBM
Smart Sensor Wireless solution or CBM Handheld solution.

2.2. Included
Default scope covers the following items and functionalities
- Permanent type of installation as described in offerings for CBM Infrastructure (see details in
CBM Infrastructure OFFERINGS DESCRIPTION document)

- Infrastructure for Hand-held solution that includes mounting pads and RFID tags
- Scope of Service Level STANDARD functionality

Service-related activities includes:

- Baselining for each individual machine

Covers collection of rating plate info about machine. Setting up baseline measurement cam-
paign e.g. collecting representative data set of measurements while machine in in healthy / ini-
tial state. Calculating machine specific threshold levels for each individual Key Condition Indica-
tor (KCI). In case of upgrade from Service Level STANDARD , to Service Level ADVANCED,
additional KCIs are calculated with use of data from additional sensors
NOTE: Baselining process is driven and supervised by CBM Analyst Engineer and can take up to 3
months depending on the frequency of data collection

- Automatic edge and cloud evaluation of machine components traffic lights.

There is a minimum required number of vibration sensors provisioned e.g. 5 sensors in the fol-
lowing directions: machine body, Drive End horizontal, Non-Drive End horizontal, Drive End Axial,
Non-Drive End axial. Such minimum number of sensors allows for diagnostics of the following
components with specific types of potential failures:
o Overall vibration levels:
Detection level: Key Condition Indicators from additional sensors are checked against

warning limits derived from baselining procedure. Corresponding traffic lights indicates
that level of vibrations on machine are above thresholds but does not point which com-
ponent is a source of increased vibration

o Fault detection for Rolling Element Bearings Drive End and Non-Drive End side:
Detection level: Same as for Service Level STANDARD.
- Machine related faults
With 5 or more vibration sensors certain machine faults can be detected with higher confidence
level than it is in case of Service Level STANDARD scenario (8MAL100003-1107 ABB Ability™ Ma-
rine CBM – Service Level Standard). In addition, with Service Level ADVANCED, the following, ad-
ditional faults are expected to be spot by ABB CBM Analysts team.

Fault type Specifics

Dynamic and couple imbal-

Analyzed across horizontal and vertical radial directions
ance

Bent shaft Axial direction sensor required to analyze harmonics and phase

Angular misalignment In addition to radial directions, there is axial direction required

Cocked bearing Presence of multiple harmonics in axial direction

Pedestal Bearing Looseness Axial direction analyzed

“Hump” in spectrum in only one axis, therefore all direction sen-

Resonance
sors required

Driven equipment Pumps/Fans Blade / Vane Pass

Cavitation Increased reliability of diagnosis with both V and H directions

Gear Faults Gear mesh frequency in spectrum and time waveform analysis

- Electric Signals Analysis

Additional sensor for machine current measurements can be ordered. Typically, these are
Rogowski coil type of sensors looped around desired number of phases (from one to all). With
this addition, onboard system is calculating the Power Quality coefficients and there is addi-
tional traffic light that indicates the anomaly detection. Moreover, in the quarterly and case re-
ports, there is additional section related to Motor Current Signature Analysis commented by
CBM Analyst

2.3. Optional
There is a number or extension options that can be added to Service Level ADVANCED. Specifics are de-
scribed below:

- Motion amplification site survey

Recording and post measurement report based on the motion amplification movies. Especially
applicable in case of fault tracing sources of high vibration outside of machine that do affect
machine in the end
