Key Selection Criteria

1) Demonstrated ability working effectively in a team.
I am an undergraduate engineer with a focus on fostering collaborative and welcoming team
environments. Currently leading a team for the EWB project, I was elected as the team leader
(or CEO) due to my communication and collaboration skills.
In my role, I prioritize understanding each team member's strengths, distributing
responsibilities accordingly, and ensuring open communication. Weekly meetings, tailored to
accommodate everyone's schedule, which serve as our platform for goal setting and idea
generation. Our team has established clear procedures inspired by tutor guidelines on Canvas,
emphasizing timely task completion with a 5% involvement penalty for delays.
Our commitment to effective communication is evident in our use of a group Messenger
channel, as highlighted in our Team chatter on week 2. This approach has created an
environment where team members feel free to express opinions without fear of repercussions
Conflict is unavoidable during a team effort. During a critical phase in the project, conflicting
opinions arose regarding the brainstorming process as to whether the design option should be
a specific product or a general field. Recognizing the potential impact on project timelines, I
took the initiative to facilitate a team discussion and raised the confusion to the tutor.
2) Demonstrated ability to use established engineering design
processes on novel or complex projects.
In our EWB project focused on improving life in Pu Ngoal village, Cambodia, we narrowed our
focus to Agriculture and Livelihood, aligning with both the villagers' needs and our technological
expertise. Following a thorough examination of client briefs and produce a reverse client brief
in order to avoid misconceptions, we identified key issues:
- Lack of tools
- Lack of water
- Lack of modern knowledge
- Limited funding
- Low-quality crops
- Ineffective production
Our research led us to consider various options:
- Improving soil quality
- Manufacturing harvesting tools
- Advanced agricultural education
- Improving crop resilience
Conducting a validity check and screening process over multiple criteria such as:
- Cost
- Local resource
- Economic benefit
- Enviromental impact
- Community egagement
This approach ensured that the options are aligned to the budget constraits and the cilents
objectives. We determined manufacturing harvesting tools to be the most effective solution.
Currently, our team is dedicated to developing a conceptual design for embodiment, testing,
and verification, aiming to provide suitable tools that address the specific needs of the villagers.
3) Demonstrated ability in effective oral and written communication to
a technical audience.
One of my strong points is communication. I have talked with my partner frequently during
the course, and I am able to clearly and understandably convey my ideas. We just gave a
presentation regarding our progress to the class and tutor. I did my part with confidence,
speaking in a clear, lively voice that I believe everyone could follow and understand. I'm
confident in my ability to write a detailed response that is clear, concise, and readable. The
tutor gave my recent assessment 1 of the client brief, a positive feedback on writing layout
and language.
4) Demonstrated ability to manage self.
As a undergraduate engineer I realize my strengths and weaknesses are
Strengths:
1. Effective communication:
- I good at conveying complex ideas clearly, both in written and oral communication, fostering
understanding and collaboration within the team.
2. Team collaboration:
- My ability to work seamlessly within a team environment is a notable strength, as I recognize
and leverage individual strengths for collective success.
3. Analytical thinking:
- I possess strong analytical skills, allowing me to approach problems methodically and derive
well-informed solutions.
4. Time management:
- Efficient time management is a key strength, enabling me to prioritize tasks effectively and
meet project deadlines.
5. Proactiveness:
- I have consistently demonstrated initiative and a willingness to take on responsibilities

Weaknesses:
1. Public nervousness:
- While my communication skills are strong, I sometimes experience nervousness during
public speaking.
2. Technical skill
- As an undergraduate engineer, I have little to none professional experiences and lack of
technological knowledge
3. Balancing Workload:
- Occasionally, I find it challenging to strike an ideal balance time managing between different
tasks

By acknowledging and addressing these strengths and weaknesses, I aim to foster personal and
professional growth In terms of personal developments, I reckon my self to have a plan to
enhance my technological skill sets. Studying course at RMIT, self learing workshop to gain
knowledge within the engineering fields such as coding, mathematics, robotics, etc.
For professional development, I would seek for internship in the following year and continued
improve my professional manners.
