proponent
b) Objective & Scope of EMP
c) Estimated Budget Plan
Environmental Policy

• Main purpose:
to manage human activities with a view
to prevent, reduce, or mitigate harmful
effects on nature and natural resources,
and ensuring that man-made changes to
the environment do not have harmful
effects on humans
Case Study
• Environmental Policy of X’s company:-

 Continual improvement in environmental

quality and prevention of pollution by
applying best available practices and setting
and reviewing objects and targets.
 Encourage concern and respect for the
environment, emphasize every employee’s
responsibility in environmental performance,
and ensure appropriate operating practices
and training.
 Establish an environmental management
system to measure and monitor operational
activities with significant environmental
impacts.
Objective of EMP
• To identify the environmental issues/ risks
associated with the proposed project
activities.

• To describe mitigation measures that will

be applied during all the phases of the
project.

• To identify the policies and principles that

is to be put in to place to ensure that the
proposed mitigation measures are
implemented and effective.
EMP Flow Cart
Estimated Budget Plan
• Cost Control
• To include all mitigation measures &
monitoring cost in each phase.

development to ensure that the policies, goals and objectives are consistent
with all environmental requirements in the aspect of laws, regulations,
guidelines and standards.

ii. Guiding the implementation of the Environmental Management Plan by

defining the environmental policy, objectives, goals, and targets.

iii. Formulating and recommending to top management, action plans to reduce

or rectify any adverse impact as a result of implementing the proposed
development.

iv. Ensuring the implementation of a comprehensive and pragmatic

environmental management program together with the best management
practices to oversee the effectiveness of mitigation measures implemented
throughout the development of the proposed development.

v. Communicate and updating project proponent on a routine basis on the

environmental, safety and health practices on the various construction
parcels at site.

Solid Waste Management
Impacts Identified during Earth Work and Construction Mitigating Measures
 Improper disposal of waste leads to increase in runoff,  Waste to be minimized and reused whenever
resulting in pollution of the receiving water bodies. possible.

 Leachate from improper garbage disposal will pollute  Garbage should be collected in a garbage tanks
streams. and disposed in approved landfill.

 Improper solid waste disposal can encourage pests and

diseases.
 Indiscriminate disposal can be source of health hazards.  Modern sanitation and septic tanks to be
installed.
 Improper disposal may give rise to odour pollution.
 Wastes to be collected in bins before being
dumped at proper disposal site.

 Waste to be disposed at proper designated

disposal site.
 Other wastes and hazardous materials can have  Other wastes and hazardous materials, which may
