• It’s permanent and ongoing, based on evidence of
your quality performance.
OUR ASSESSMENT
AND EVALUATION
• Performance is based on rubrics and guidelines,
which are public on PAIDEIA Idiomas - PAIDEIA –
Inglés (Empower). Please, get familiar with them.

• Attendance and commitment do count for you to

achieve the very best results.

• Tardiness is considered from minute 16 to minute 30 past the official class-start time. The
same applies if you leave or disconnect from classes more than 15 minutes before the end
of the hour. Every two (2) times you register a tardiness, it counts as one hour of absence.

TARDINESS AND
ABSENCES • Absences: Connecting more than 30’ late, or leaving your class more than 30’ earlier,
is considered as an hour of absence. This is the list of limit of absences per
frequency:
• Regular (Mon-Fri), Saturday, Intensive and Interdaily Classes: 8 pedagogical
hours
• Super intensive: 16 pedagogical hours, but you must not exceed 12 consecutive
pedagogical hours.
• Speed Up: 32 pedagogical hours, but you must not exceed 12 consecutive
pedagogical hours.

• Both tardiness and absences, affect your grades since they are based on evidence of
your class performance. Therefore, there is no justification for any of them.

* Remember that if you arrive 5 minutes after the evaluated activity's official start
3 time, will not be allowed to participate. See slide 12 - Intermediate Level Evaluation for
further information.

click on the far right box "Acceso a Clases" where you will find the ZOOM PUCP link, User ID, and
Passcode of the class you are registered in. You will find your Empower Cambridge One Class Code, as
well.

You must have a good microphone during all Zoom sessions, turn on your camera so that your face is visible like in the

reference image, and participate in order to be evaluated on the quality of your oral production (check rubrics in Paideia

Idiomas). You should always connect from a suitable and tranquil environment for optimal participation.

Important: On a regular basis, classes are randomly monitored. It's possible that your class will be recorded
just for pedagogical purposes.

A TWO (2) OVERALL PERFORMANCE GRADES *

According to the frequency you are registered in, the teachers will award a Mid and a Final Term
Grade. This is just an example of Regular English Courses:
Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Day 4 Day 5 Day 6 Day 7 Day 8

3 2 3

Day 9 Day 10 Day 11 Day 12 Day 13 Day 14 Day 15 Day 16

3 2 3

To do this, grades (0-4) are added in each period.

The grade is obtained according to a chart of equivalences.
Example: 3+2+3=8
* Depending on the frequency you are registered in, ask your teacher for further information

B EVALUATED ACTIVITIES
There are three (3) evaluated activities:
A: GRADED BOOK WRITING TASK (GBWT) = (0-4) (which will be carried out synchronously
using Zoom)

B: CAMBRIDGE ONE= (0-4) Based on the results of your Graded Score, which is the quality of your
performance in the platform. Details on the next slide and in Paideia Idiomas.

C: IP TALKS = (0-4

Keep in mind that rescheduling these tasks is not an option; failure to appear or participate, as well as
failing to turn on your camera, will result in a partial grade of 0 (zero). The very same applies if you
arrive more than 5 (five) minutes after the activity's scheduled start time.

It is a must to read all of the information and details on Paideia Idiomas PUCP.

B EVALUATED ACTIVITIES Cambridge One Platform: Graded Score

Notice that in this example, the student has

an Average score of 92% (A), but this result
only represents 3 out of the 26 activities
assigned in this particular course (B)
(3/26=12%).

Your Graded Score, will be calculated like

this: =(A X B)/100 ; (92% x 12%)/100=
11.04%

The final step is to convert the graded score

from 0 to 4, which in this case is 0.
See details in Paideia Idiomas.

C TESTS
The exam grade will be the average of the Unit Progress Tests (UPTs) (they cover sections A to C of your
course units). Whenever there is a course that implies the Mid or End of –the course Competency Reading &
Listening Tests, the average of the test results, will be part of your final exam. These tests measure your
Listening, Reading and Use of Language (grammar and vocabulary according to de CEFR). Check the deadline
calendar on slide 14 and on Paideia Idiomas Platform.

Important! In each UPT, only the first attempt is recorded as a valid grade. There is only one possible attempt for
the Mid or End-of-Course Competency Tests. If you do not take any of the tests by the deadlines, your score will
be "0." (zero). Take the test while adhering to the "no cheating" ethical principles.

Remember that Tests are only taken

from a PC or laptop, and with a good
internet connection.

C EXAMS OR TESTS

The number of Test (Unit Progress Tests (UPTs) and or Mid or End of –the course Competency Reading &
Listening Tests, depend on the frequency of classes you are enrolled in each term.
Take a look at the following information:

• Regular Course (Mon-Fri), Saturday, Interdaily, and Intensive Courses: Two (2) UPTs or Mid or End-of-
Curse Competency Test whenever applies. The Final Exam grade is the average of both of them.

• Super intensive Courses: Four (4) UPTs or Mid or End-of- Curse Competency Test whenever applies.
Average of the two First ones as Mid-term, and the last two, as a Final Exam. The final grade is the average
of both.

• Speed Up Course: Eight (8) UPTs or Mid or End-of- Curse Reading & Listening Competency Test whenever
applies. Average of the first four as Mid-term, and the last four as Final Exam. The final grade is the average
of both.

from a PC or Laptop with a good internet connection within the frame of time given on slide 14. You can take them
immediately after the end of section C in each unit. We highly encourage our students to take them timely. The
platform time-controls each test. Do not wait until the last minute to avoid technical problems that may result in a
grade of zero (0) in them.
