NO PATTERN SENTENCE
1 If clause + an imperative If you are going to explore the country by
public transportation, buy a Korea tourist pass
2 If clause + suggestion If you visit Korea, you should not litter
3 If clause + a general truth If you don’t bring any beverages during your
tour, you will be thirsty
4 If clause + reminder If you’d like to visit its tourist attractions, you
must prepare your stamina
5 If clause + dream/wish If you have spare money, you can buy delicious
chocolate as souvenirs

Two frequently used functions :


1. If clause + an imperative

Note: italicize simple present and bold verb one
2. If clause + suggestion
➢ If + simple present + why don’t + subject + verb one
➢ If + simple present + subject + should/ought to/ had better + verb one
• If you like watching a leather puppet show, why don,t you go to
town square tonigt.
• If you go to Surabaya, you should take a train
Note: italicize simple present, bold verb one and underline the subject
