If Conditional
What?
• Conditional sentences are sentences expressing
factual implications, or hypothetical situations
and their consequences. They are so called
because the validity of the main clause of the
sentence is conditional on the existence of
certain circumstances, which may be expressed
in a dependent clause or may be understood
from the context.
• Jika hari ini tidak hujan, saya akan pergi jalan-jalan
anak kalimat induk kalimat
Type III => if that day had not rained, I would have gone to Mall
• Saya akan membeli mobil baru jika uang saya banyak
Type III => if I had had enough money, I would have bought a
new car
• Jika saya cantik, saya akan menjadi artis
Type III => if I had been beautiful, I would have been an artist

• Jika saya makan, saya tidak akan lapar
If I had eaten, I would not have been hungry
• I’m sure Tom will lend you some money. I would be very
surprised if he (refuse) refused.
• Ann gave me this ring. She (be) would be terribly upset if I had
lost it.
