G20 COMMUNICATIONS AND MEDIA TEAM

Ministry of Communication and Informatics: Thousands of Journalists to Cover the G20 Summit

(Jakarta, November 9, 2022) – The G20 Summit in Bali is only days away. After the registration was closed on October 15, 2,133 journalists from accredited local and

international media outlets have been registered to cover the main event of the G20 Presidency of Indonesia on November 15-16, 2022.

2,051 journalists will present in person and 82 of them will cover the event virtually. They are part of the 435 registered media, namely 364 international media outlets and

71 national media outlets.

Such a number is evidence of their enthusiasm to cover the G20 Presidency held for the first time by Indonesia, which will last for one year, from December 1, 2021, to

November 30, 2022.

G20 meetings also serve as a beacon of hope for mutual recovery due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has been affecting the world for the last three years.

This statement was conveyed by the Director General of Public Information and Communications (Dirjen IKP) of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (ICT),

Usman Kansong, in his explanation of the G20 Summit coverage management in an online press conference titled #G20updates on Wednesday, (11/9/2022).

He also said that these journalists and media staff would need adequate supporting facilities for their coverage.

In his opinion, one of the elements with an active role in supporting the success of an event is the media.

Therefore, both local and foreign media staff are provided with several facilities. These facilities will enable them to obtain information from every key moment in this

international event.

Usman revealed the four locations that will be visited by leaders of the G20 Summit, namely the Apurva Kempinski in Raya Nusa Dua Selatan. They will also be at the Garuda

Wisnu Kencana Complex and Ngurah Rai Mangrove Conservation Forest in Pemogan Village. The last location will be at Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort at Lot N5 ITDC

Complex, Nusa Dua.

“Considering the number of heads of state or state officials who will be attending, it is necessary to have very strict security. There will be access coverage limitations at

every location,” Usman said.

Usman said that priority access for direct coverage will still be given to media that are officially attached to the delegation leader of each country, or those referred to as

official media. Each official media consists of photographers, videographers, hosts, and OTP (Official Travelling Press). “This provision applies at all venues for the G20

Summit,” he said.

In addition, Usman explained that the official media center of the ICT Ministry will provide materials in the form of press releases in two languages, namely Indonesian and

English. Not only provide facilities to support journalists covering the summit, but the media center also provides supporting news content, such as infographics, short

videos, and bulletins.

“We have prepared a media host, consisting of photographers and videographers. They are the ones that will provide the need for images and broadcasts for media outlets

that do not have access to the G20 Summit. Materials from the media host can be accessed for free through the international broadcast center room at the G20 Summit

media center. In addition to press releases, we also provide clean feeds of photos and videos as news material for the press,” he said.

He mentioned that journalists can collect their press ID badges for the G20 Summit from November 10-15, 2022, at the Courtyard Hotel. These identity cards can be taken

directly by journalists or their representatives by showing confirmation letters and photo IDs.

The Ministry of Communication and Informatics also provides working space and hospitality services at the official media center.
The official media center of the ICT Ministry can be accessed from November 13, 2022, from 08.00 to 22.00 WITA (Central Indonesian Time). During the G20 Summit, the

media center is open from 08.00 to 24.00 WITA.

“Media that can access the media center are those registered in the media registration and have received their press ID badges. This is the main identification tag to enter

the media center,” Usman said.
