Thickness
The minimum required thickness for any component that retains pressure(excluding allowable corrosion) is 1.59 mm (0.0625 in), in
accordance with UG-16 previsions.
For the case of vertical cilindrical vessels, the hydrostatic pressure (PH) of the design fluid shall be added to the design
pressure.
If the specific weight of the design fluid is less than the specific weight of water, the specific weight of water shall be
used to calculate the design fluid hydrostatic test. If the specific weight of the design fluid is greather than the specific
weight of water, the specific weight of the design fluid shall be used to calculate the hydrostatic pressure.

P = PD + PH

Hydrostatic pressure calculation (PH)

rF = 0.00100 kg/cm^3

The thickness required (tc) to handle the longitudinal stress arising due to the design pressure (PD) and the hidrostatic
pressure (PH), is giving for:

tc = ( P * R )/ (S * E - 0.6 * P )+ CA If P ≤ 0.385 * S * E , in accordance with **UG-27(1)**

Maximum Allowable Working Pressure (MAWP)

MAWP
The MAWP for the longitudinal stress (MAWPl), for the allowable thickness:

MAWPl = ( S * E * t) / ( R + 0.6 * t)

tc = 5.0 mm

MAWPc = 4.997 MPa

The MAWP for the hoop stress (MAWPc), for the allowable thickness:

MAWPc = ( 2 * S * E * t) / ( R - 0.4 * t)

MAWPc = 10.110 MPa

The shell MAWPs is the smallest value between the MAWPc y MAWPl:

MAWPs = 4.997 MPa

Maximum allowable stress = 0.90 * S

Maximum allowable stress = 463.5 MPa

Hydrostatic test pressure(PT) = 6.50 MPa This hydrostatic test pressure will be limited for the
flange pressure / temperature rating.

Leg supports

For the calculation of the axial load (Pc)that every leg will be submited,next conditions will be considered:
a) The normal load conditions, operation and test will be into account.
b) Wind and seism conditions will be into account.

Load per leg

Pw = W / Np
W = Weight of the vessel (kg), operation and test conditions.
Np = Number of legs

Pw = 401.23 kg

Wind loads (Fv)

Because the tank is located inside the plant, the calculation of adverse effects by wind is not considered.

Seismic loads (Fs)

It is considered that the effects of the seism will be supported by two of the columns, column A and column B, respectively.

Fs = C * W
C = Seismic coeficient
C = 0.24
