Drilling The Hole and

twisting pedals
• When drilling the holes, you must make sure that the
teeth of the drill bit isn't in the clamp on the drill. Then
make sure that the drill isn't on reverse. You also want
to make sure you are putting a little bit of pressure
while you do this, but not too much, as the drill bit will
snap off or get damaged. You will want to make sure
that you are drilling on to a wood material that is kept
in the class.
• You will need glasses and headphones
• Using 2 needle nose pliers, I will then get the star and
twist the 5 hands inwards. I will need to make sure that
the hands are tight and closed together and that they
look good and evenly matched.
Forming Rose on to the
stem
• When I am done with making the star, I will get an stem
from Mr. Spiers and start to make a loop near the top of
the stem. The loop will be used for the petals and the
star to sit on top of. To make the loop, I will need two
needle nose pliers. Then I will put the stem into the vice
and slowly twist the petal with the pliers. Once the loop
is nice and tight, I will start to put the rose petals and
star onto the stem. Starting by putting the star on first,
and then the rose petals. When I put my star on, I put
mine the wrong way, so later on I had to twist the edges
the other way around. Once all pieces are on the stem, i
will start to also twist the top part of the wire, this will
also make sure the rose stays in place.
Cutting and Putting Rose Petals into
Formation
• You will need to get 2 pieces of metal or one, depending on how big the
metal is. Then you will want to draw on a petal shape on to the metal (or a
raindrop type shape). After drawing it, you will need tin snips, gloves and
safety goggles to cut out the petal.

• After making the loops and putting the pieces onto the stem, you will then
want to start formatting the rose. To do this you will need two needle nose
pliers. You will first want to pull up one petal and grip the 2 pliers on each
side, then you will want to twist the petal inwards and when u do you will
want to make sure you twist it the tightest it can be. The first petal is the
most important because that’s where the eyes go when you look at the
rose. Then you will want to keep wrapping the petals around each other.
Once you are done, you will want to bend down the top of each petal to
make the rose look realistic.
Detailing The Petal
• As done with the star, I will use the chipping hammer to add detail to
the petal. Once I properly detail my petal with the chipping hammer, I
will move on to grabbing a chisel and a hammer and start to make a
more leaf like appearance on the petals.
