DECLARATION OF SUPPORT

We, the undersigned managementof the Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Lamac

MPC) representing over 140,000 coop members, declare our full support for the
confirmation of the appointment of DTI Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual.

With Secretary Pascual leading the DTI, we believe that more farmers,
entrepreneurs, and industry players in the countryside will continue to benefit from
government programs and projects. Through DTI’s partnership with Lamac MPC, we
will be able to provide more assistance to agri-businesses and other enterprises
across the Visayas regions and nearby areas.

One notable project we would like to really commend Secretary Pascual is his strong
push for the establishment of the One Town One Product (OTOP) permanent
store in the Ayala Center Malls, for which the Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative is
the Cooperator for the OTOP Store in Ayala Center Cebu. This project has received
very positive feedback and interest from our coop members and MSMEs, and we are
looking forward to the launch of the OTOP Store.

Through the Secretary’s leadership and advocacy in making possible the setting up
of a marketing and distribution outlet for OTOP products in a high-traffic, accessible
site like the Ayala Center Malls, thousands of MSMEs are provided expanded
opportunities to market locally-made products and provide more jobs and income to
the communities. This will immensely help in the government’s goal of poverty
alleviation.

For these reasons, we firmly place our confidence in the leadership of Secretary
Pascual to support small entrepreneurs, particularly agri-business enterprises, in the
Philippine countryside, for the next six years.

In behalf of the Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative:

MARIA ELENA C. LIMOCON

About the Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Lamac MPC)

Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Lamac MPC) is one of the most successful

Cooperatives in the country with genuine roots in agri-business, countryside
development, and a keen entrepreneurial track record that capitalizes on the value
chain of the many industries it has ventured into over the years.

Lamac MPC is a significant, holistic economic player in the communities it serves.

Lamac MPC’s humble beginnings were that of a Lamac Samahang Nayon set up in
1973 with only 70 farmer members and an aggregate CBU of only P3,500.00 ---
before it became a Cooperative in 1992.

With the help of government agencies such as the Department of Trade and Industry
(DTI), Lamac MPC is now a Billionaire Coop – earning the Cooperative Development
Authority’s (CDA) Hall of Fame distinction with multiple “Gawad Parangal” Billionaire
Coop Awards - and continues to garner high honors from different government and
private institutions. Total members as of March 2022 is nearly 140,000 – one of the
biggest and most expansive among coops in the Visayas – of which 60% are still
farmers, fisherfolks and other agri-preneurs. Lamac MPC is specially known for its
collaborative linkages with government, non-government organizations both local
and international, business chambers/industry associations, corporations, and
MSMEs.

By availing of DTI’s various programs for MSMEs, Lamac MPC is now a highly
diversified multi-purpose cooperative currently operating in the Visayas Region with
56 business offices and more than 30 branches in the entire province of Cebu.
Lamac MPC has ventured into food production (e.g. fresh carabao milk drinks, coco
sugar), carabao farming, piggery, organic vegetable farming, demo farming, cocoa
production, upcoming coco ice water plant, wearables production, T-shirt printing,
and dormitory. It operates its own bank, bakery, several Dairy Box outlets, and
tourism sites such as the Hidden Valley Wave Pool and Mountain Resort in Lamac.
As a Consumer Cooperative, it is a wholesaler, distributor and/or retailer of several
goods and merchandise items.

Considered a model for Sustainable Development and the gold standard for
enterprising rural cooperatives, Lamac MPC has been a valuable partner of the DTI
since the early 1990s. For close to 30 years, Lamac MPC officers and members
have actively participated in or partnered with the DTI’s programs, activities and
projects. Even amidst the pandemic, Lamac MPC remains a very active partner in
implementing DTI-CARP, SSF, OTOP, SMERA, Industry Cluster Enhancement
(ICE), Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (NSB), and the numerous activities
implemented through the Negosyo Centers. Notably, the Shared Service Facilities
(SSF) program of DTI has found a ready, able and nurturing Cooperator in Lamac
MPC – boosting industry development, self-reliance and food security in the
countryside.
