INT LIVING ROOM DAY

Jane is setting up a table with snacks and drinks in front of a tv. Some friends have started
arriving.

Kelly and May enter the house with Cole following behind them, Jane greets them from the
living room door before heading back to finish setting the table and turning the tv and DVD
player on to set it up for the show viewing.

COLE
So what were we watching again?

Jane goes over to a cupboard and retrieves a DVD case holding it up to Cole.

JANE
Batman since not everyone’s seen the original series.

Jane walks over to the DVD player and places the disc inside it. Everyone gathers in the
living room to begin watching the show.

KELLY
Hey Jane do you mind if I hang back after we’ve finished the show?
I wanted to film some stuff.

JANE
Sure I have somethings I need to film for TikTok anyway.
I just hit 20k so I need a celebration video.

MAY
{surprised}
Really? Congrats then I’m looking forward to seeing what you end up doing
for it.

COLE
{happy}
Yea congrats Jake!

KELLY
{amazed}
Congrats! I’m happy for you.

JANE
{happy}
Thanks guys!

JUMP CUT TO

The group is watching a show on the tv and drinking, some are already drunk. Jane gets up to
leave the room.
 JANE
{drunk}
Hold on I got something cool I want to show you guys

The rest of the group watch her with curiosity as she gets up and leaves the room.

COLE
{drunk}
What do you think she’s getting?

KELLY
No idea but she seemed excited at least so maybe it’s some new accessory or
something

MAY
{drunk}
Like a prop or something?

KELLY
Probably she did tell me she got something new for a costume a while back

Jane returns with a box containing a gun. The others gather nearby her looking at the gun as
Jane removes it from the box.

JANE
{drunk}
Check this out it's just like the villain’s gun!

She takes the gun out of the box showing it to her friends who seem interested in the gun.
Cole and May step closer admiring the gun.

COLE
{curious}
Wow it looks so real where’d you get it

JANE
{smug}
My ex left it don’t think he bothered taking it.
Also its real but don’t worry pretty sure it’s not loaded.

Jane holds up the gun pointing it at Cole smiling.

JANE
{laughing}
Look at me I’m Two-Face!

COLE
{laughing}
Oh no don’t shoot me Mr Two-Face!
Jane starts pretending to shoot the gun at some of her friends who laugh it off. Kelly walks
over to Jane laughing a little.

KELLY
{laughing}
Hey Jane shoot me!

Jane points the gun at Kelly pretending to shoot her. The gun makes a few clicks as Jane
pretends to shoot at Kelly and then the others.

MAY
{laughing}
Oh no! you got me!

The group continues to mess around with the gun when it goes off as Jane points it at Kelly
who falls to the ground. Everyone falls silent as they stare at Kelly waiting to see if she
moves

JANE
{slightly concerned}
Kelly?

Kelly remains motionless as panic begins to grow amongst the group. Jane kneels down next
to Kelly and tries to move her.

JANE
{panicked}
Kelly get up this isn’t funny.

Jane starts to panic more as Kelly doesn’t move and starts pacing the room. One of the party
guests Cole takes out his phone to call for an ambulance.

JANE
{still panicked}
What are you doing?

COLE
{slightly panicked}
We need to call an ambulance they might be able to still save her

Jane slaps the phone out of Cole’s hand looking upset.

JANE
{emotional}
We can’t call for help.
I could get in trouble for this

The other guest May steps over and tries to comfort Jane. Cole picks his phone back up.
 COLE
{angry}
If we don’t get help she could die!

JANE
{angry}
Look at her does it look like anyone could help her!

Cole looks over at Kelly who is motionless on the ground with a wound in her head.

COLE
{still upset}
We need to do something we can’t just leave her like this, I’m sure if we
explain you won’t get in a lot of trouble.

MAY
{concerned}
How exactly are we supposed to explain this?
Just sorry officer my friend just happened to fire a loaded gun at one of my
other friends

JANE
{yelling}
I told you I thought it wasn’t loaded!

COLE
{angry}
You mean you didn’t check!

Jane stops pacing and turns to Cole looking upset.

JANE
{crying}
I didn’t think my ex would leave a loaded gun.

COLE
{fuming}
You still could have checked!
What if you had shot me or May? What then?
Kelly is dead because of you!

May walks over to Kelly’s body looking more upset. Cole and Jane continue to argue in the
background as May tries to think what to do.

MAY
{upset}
Will you two just shut up this isn’t solving anything, Kelly is dead and Jane is
going to get in more trouble and we could too if we don’t sort out our story.

COLE
 {bitter}
Why do we need to solve this it’s her fault.

JANE
{upset}
I told you I didn’t realise.
It was an accident I wouldn’t have pulled the trigger if I knew it was loaded!

MAY
{annoyed}
Look this isn’t helping anyone and yea we do need to solve this cause we
could get roped up in this if we don’t.

JANE
{muttering}
Someone might have heard us what if the police are already on their way.

MAY
{annoyed}
It’s terrible that Kelly’s dead yes but if we can’t sort this out before the police
find out we’re all in trouble not just Jane.

Cole sighs trying to calm down. He turns toward both Jane and May.

COLE
{irritable}
Fine.
Fine I guess it would be better to not get ourselves in trouble too at least.

MAY
{slightly relieved}
Good now let’s try and get our story together

They all look back at where Kelly lays on the floor.

EXT HOUSE DAY

A police car arrives outside of the house. There are the sounds of muffled conversation
behind the door as the officer knocks on the door. There is a moment of silence before the
door opens to reveal a nervous Jane.

JANE
{nervous}
Hello is there something I can help you with?

OFFICER
We got a call from a neighbour that said they heard a gunshot is everything
ok?
Jane starts to feel panic again as she tries to think of what to say and Cole comes over to the
door.

COLE
There was an accident we were going to call

OFFICER
{concerned}
An accident? Can I come inside?

Jane stays by the door as the police are reluctantly let inside the house.

INT LIVING ROOM DAY

The police officer walks into the room to see May sat away from the body with Jane and Cole
looking on edge. They stare at Kelly’s body as the camera fades.

INT NEWS STATION DAY

There’s a news reporter sat at a desk looking serious.

REPORTER
Tragedy strikes as the body of Kelly Hanson is found today with a gunshot
wound to the head.

Footage of the interrogation begins to play on the screen as the reporter continues reporting.

REPORTER

Her killer is high school friend Jane White.

Jane claims the shooting was an accident because she assumed the gun left by
an ex-boyfriend was empty but was too drunk to bother checking.

The screen switches to clips of TikToks on screen.

REPORTER
{voiceover}
Jane is known for her popular online TikTok presence where she dresses up as
characters from media.

Some of her videos lean towards violent scenes involving blood which makes
people wonder was this truly an accident.
