ACTIVITY #2

Name of Entrepreneur: Colonel Sanders

Introduction:
Colonel Harland Sanders, commonly known as Colonel Sanders, was a prominent American
entrepreneur and the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), one of the world's most famous
fast-food restaurant chains. He was born on September 9, 1890, in Henryville, Indiana, USA, and
passed away on December 16, 1980. Colonel Sanders is best known for his distinctive white suit,
string tie, and his secret blend of "eleven herbs and spices" used in KFC's fried chicken recipe.
History:
His early life was marked by challenges, including the death of his father when he was just six
years old. Sanders opened a small service station in Corbin, Kentucky, and it was there that he
began serving his famous fried chicken. In 1952, at the age of 62, Sanders franchised his fried
chicken concept. His first franchisee was Pete Harman, who opened the first official KFC
restaurant in Salt Lake City, Utah. Sanders adopted the title of "Colonel" and created the iconic
image of himself dressed in a white suit, black string tie, and sporting a white goatee. KFC's
success grew rapidly, and it became known for its "finger-lickin' good" fried chicken. The
franchise expanded across the United States and later internationally, becoming one of the
world's most recognizable fast-food chains. In 1964, Colonel Sanders sold the Kentucky Fried
Chicken corporation to a group of investors for $2 million, though he retained a position as a
spokesman and continued to be involved with the company's marketing.
