5.6.1 Removal of the Input Shaft Seal


Remove as follows:
Show/Hide Checkboxes

1. Park the vehicle on a level surface, shut down the engine, and set the parking brake.
Chock the tires.
2. Disconnect the batteries at the negative post, including the batteries for the auxiliary
HVAC, if equipped.
3. Remove the transmission. Refer to section "Removal of the Transmission" .
4. Remove the clutch actuator (1) and the pass-through connector. Refer to section
"Removal of the Clutch Actuator Assembly" .

5. Remove the capscrews (2) and the input shaft seal housing (3).
6. Note the orientation of the input shaft bearing shim and spacer. Remove the shim (7),
the spacer (6), and the Input Seal Housing O-ring (8).

NOTICE:
Take care to prevent the input shaft bearing from falling out and getting damaged. The
tapered bearing will tend to fall out if the transmission is moved or the shafts are turned.

7. Remove the oil baffle (5).


8. Remove the input shaft seal (4).
