The Name of the business will be Wendy Survey Equipments Supplies.
The name of the business has come from the owners’ name which is Wendy and the products
that it will be dealing with.

1.1 Business description


The owner and sponsor of the business is Mrs., age 30years a Kenyan Nationalist. The owner
is a resident of Siaya town District, Siaya County and a holder of Kenya certificate of
secondary Education Christian secondary school, currently pursuing a Land Survey course at
Siaya Institute of Technology.

Further the experience the owner got from my internship for a period of four months and the
knowledge I have I acquired in entrepreneurship and management have motivated me to
start a firm that is going to withstand competition and challenges in near future.

The business shall be located in Siaya town in KNUT Building Ground floor opposite
Jalsonga Pharmacy.

1.3 FORM OF BUSINESS OWNERSHIP
The business will be a sole proprietorship of which the owner will be the manager taking full
control of the operation of the business. This therefore gives the following merits to the
business in the operation
- There will be direct customer contact and public exposure which will be of prime
importance to the business in its operations
- The owner will enjoy job security thus there’s continued income and profit
- The owner will enjoy personal satisfaction during what aspired the owner to do in
regard to offer services appropriately to the customers
- The owner will enjoy freedom and independence from the control of others in
making financial final decisions
- All profits from the business will be entirely under the owners control as well as the
firm management

to its client requirements and specifications.
The following equipment’s will be available at the company stock.
i. Tape- Tapes will aid surveyors in getting the dimension of the land and make it easy
for surveyors during the subdivision times
ii. Total station - This for topographical maps to determine the distance and bearing of
the points of a transverse
iii. Plane table - This will help surveyors during the plane table survey work within the
region
iv. Dumpy level- This will help road Engineers in getting the true ground level as
from the original level
v. GRS- This will help land surveyors to determine the size of the land easily
and the dimension of the land

The reason for the firm to engage in the business is due to the research the owner conducted
and found the current market in the area lack survey equipment’s and the one which are
available are those that are not of the modern
The surveyors in the regions only go abroad to hire for the equipment when they have the
survey work that requires much accuracy because they lack modern survey instruments. Thus
it will be an opportunity for Wendy Survey Equipment Supplies to bring to market the
equipment at affordable hiring price. The area has high population thus needs to have a
survey firm to make them not to go abroad for equipment.

The business will fall under survey equipment manufactures and sales in the modern
technology which is developing in the current market. The industry will be boosted by
engineers who will be in the industries for the services that will assist them in their operation.

For the business to be able to succeed and stay competitive in the market certain goals had to
be set this includes
- Having maintained good public relation by employing qualified personnel as well as
providing the customers with high quality instruments and services
- To expand the business organization so that it can offer instrument calibration
services for survey instruments this will maximize the profit of the firm
- Purchasing of modern equipment’s that would make work easier for customers

- The firm will use the modern technology in its services and products delivery to its
customers to be able to have a large market share and improve its operations. The firm will
also conduct interviews to recruit qualified and competent employees who will deliver quality
services to the client. It will develop good public relation between the public and the
stakeholders of the business
- The business will further have organized management that will be responsible for
monitoring the progress of the business operation and employee’s performance. As it grows
to maturity it plans to offer instruments calibration services for surveyors and engineers.

Wendy Survey Equipments Supplies will employ identification strategies, completion
strategies, sales strategies, distribution strategies and customers service strategies.
Due to the overwhelming demand for the surveying services resulting from escalated
property values and the constant great mobility among the general public has increased the
number of parcels of land transfer.

2.1 CUSTOMERS
From the research carried out, the firm is likely to attract many potential customers locally
and internationally. The targeted customers will be upcoming surveyors and the private
surveyors mostly since there is large population of the surveyor who lacks the equipment for
work and they are needed for work in different firms.
Individual customers will also form the main customers of the business since they will
require the essential services in our firm if they require equipment for work they will get
them ready for work at affordable price

Being that there are some other suppliers in the market scope, the business will start with a
market share of 30% given that that there is stiff competition in the market from this other
suppliers, However the business is expecting to rise rapidly as it continues to be stable in the
market and getting more customers to be able to achieve a market share of 50% after a period
of 1 year. This will be achieved through offering quality services and products by qualified
employees and expansion of the firm.

Wendy Survey Equipments Supplies will adopt appropriate pricing strategies in order to be
able to attract customers. The equipment hire cost will be based on expenses incurred during
time of transportation and marginal profit. It will also base on the type of equipment required
and the quality of the equipment. Also it will adapt to the government pricing policies in
survey

The main sale tactics of the firm will be lowering the hiring cost of the equipment’s in
comparison to its competitors for the services offered for instance in instrument for hired
discount will be offered depending on the number of the days hired. It will employ a good
public relationship with customers to promote the products and the services of the firm and
also improve the product and services of the firm and also to improve the image of the firm.

2.6 PROMOTION AND ADVERTISEMENT


The business will employ various strategies to advertise and promote itself this includes
putting up attractive sign board along Siaya KMTC Road opposite Siaya County Refferal
Hospital where my firm a few metres located.
The firm will be organizing how their employees will be attending seminars organized by the
county government and also exhibition shows of advanced surveyors to know what is being
offered or practiced in the recent market trend.
The firm will also do advertisement on radios and magazines for more customers
The firm will also do the online advertisement where it will have a personal account for the
customers to raise their issues and their problems so that we can get the solution to their
problems.
