Ms.

Beck

Welcome
I am so excited to meet you! I’m looking forward to an amazing school year
with all of you!

Let me introduce myself. I was born and raised in Denmark, but ventured to
Alaska in my early twenties. I have lived there for many years and worked in the
Anchorage School District as a preschool teacher, a life skills aid, an English
Language Learner algebra tutor for 9-12th grade, and now I have ventured to
Texas and will be your child’s 7th grade math teacher. This is my second-year
teaching Math. I have three grown children, two cats and an old dog. I love to
hike, kayak, road trip, knit and most of all I love to teach.

I always start my class with a bell ringer, which gives the students an
opportunity to get into class and focus right away. Sometimes, students are
excited to see each other and a timeout sign will be used to get us back to an
exciting 90 min of math. The bathroom policy of my class is once, use the hand
signal so that you do not interrupt, and never during notes. I believe in homework
and I will assign homework Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and expect the
students to bring it back the following day. Homework will be relevant, but I do
not expect the students to spend more than 30 min on the 4-6 problems.
Homework is graded as a participation grade to encourage students to try and
also learn from their mistakes, and late homework will be a 30 min. lunch
detention. Friday of the week will be the last day for the homework to be
accepted as 50% of the grade.

Thank you for sharing your child with me this coming year. If you have any
questions or concerns please contact me via email beck@irvingisd.net and
please give me 24 hrs. to respond

Best wishes,
Ms. Beck
