QUY150C Operation Manual Chapter 1 Safety Instructions
Please read this manual carefully and carry out all relevant procedures.
Work conditions
① Ambient temperature: -20 to+40℃; Normal relative humidity: ≤ 85% or 100% allowed temporarily.
② Altitude: <1,000m.
③ Max. wind pressure allowable: 270 Pa (21m/s) with boom only; 135 Pa (15m/s) with boom and jib.
(Stop work and ground boom when it exceeds the maximums.)
④ The ground should be solid and level within 5/1000 grade.
The working class for the crane is A3; working states are divided into:
Hoisting: M4 Derricking: M3 Slewing: M3 Traveling: M2
In order to get better understanding and mastery of the meanings of safety signs and warning drawing for
regulation-abiding operation, this manual contains warning words such as Danger, Warning, and Caution:
DANGER: indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result in death or
serious injury.
WARNING: indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or
serious injury.
CAUTION: indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in minor or
moderate injury.
The positions and meanings of the safety signs and nameplate are shown as follows. Prior to learning that,
do not forget the following three tips:
z Keep the labels clean so to be clearly visible
z Only wash with water or detergent rather than gasoline. Replace the label with irremovable filth on it.
z Replace the missing or defaced label with a good one

1.2. Responsibilities
1.2.1 Crane operator’s responsibilities
The crane operator is the key person who is most responsible for crane operation safety. He shall stop
operation in case of any uncertainty met
z Stay focused, never chat with irrelevant persons. Abide by directives of professional personnel but
refuse to execute those against regulations.
z The operator should familiarize himself with crane working principles, structure, function, and usage of
safety devices as well as how to operate, maintain and repair the crane.
z Know how to use the Load Chart and applies it in crane operation safely.
z Never try to lift a load without knowledge of boom length, load weight, slew radius and boom angle.
z Never lift the load heavier than ratings according to Load Chart, for such will cause the crane topple or
structural damage, personal injury or death.
z Observe the jobsite carefully to keep irrelevant personnel out. Set up alarm signs around the crane.
z Do not leave the cab with suspended load.
z When the operator’s view is restricted or when operating in hazardous places such as near electrical
power lines or populated area, operation must be carried out under the directives of the signaler who
shall be on duty throughout the operation time. Also, operators must be able to understand crane’s
standard signals and follow directives from designated signaler.
1-8/ 37
QUY150C Operation Manual Chapter 1 Safety Instructions
The operator must clearly know the work content and take into consideration all the potential danger factors,
and develop a feasible plan.
The following factors should be fully considered in preparing the plan:
● Weight of load, slewing radius, boom angle and lifting capability
● Select the best boom or jib combination
● Ensure that the crane can be transported safely to jobsite
● The influence of high voltage power lines or constructions
● Ground condition; if a slab on roadbed is needed.
● Special safety plan must be made for traveling or more than one crane cooperative operation
● Bad weathers such as gale, extreme chill or heavy fog, etc
1-9/ 37
QUY150C Operation Manual Chapter 1 Safety Instructions
z The rated load capacity of a crane refers to the total weight of load, hook and rigging.
z When the values of actual boom lengths or working radius happen to be one between two figures in
Load Chart, prefer the smaller value.
Note: It is very dangerous and therefore prohibited to attempt to lift the load just by relying on the
load (overload) indicator without the pre-knowledge of the weight of the load, for the crane may
overturn if overloaded. Always operate under the rated capacity. The operator must reduce the load
under adverse field conditions until the crane can handle the load safely.
1-10/ 37
QUY150C Operation Manual Chapter 1 Safety Instructions
1.4.3 Ambient
During hoisting operation, keep the hook and load at a safe distance
from the surrounding buildings and constructions to avoid damages to
the material and the crane. Keep the loads as close as possible to the
ground.
1-11/ 37
QUY150C Operation Manual Chapter 1 Safety Instructions
1-12/ 37
QUY150C Operation Manual Chapter 1 Safety Instructions
Normally the dynamic load will not evidently increase total load received by the crane. But with long boom
or traveling with load, lateral hoisting operation may increase potential danger and is easier to cause
overturning and boom damage.
z Lateral load is usually caused by sudden stop of slewing or slanted hoisting, wind load and hoisting on
a sloped surface.
Note: Do not create excessive lateral load.

with hook over-hoist preventing device.
4-8/ 14
QUY150C Operation Manual Chapter 4 Safety Devices
Under normal working condition, the hook hangs with the control circuit of microswitch closed.
When the hook (main/ aux. hook) is lifted up to a certain height, it will touch the plumb and activate
the microswitch. At this time with the junction of the switch split off by spring tension, the control
relay activated to make buzzer sound, height limiter indicator lit up, hook hoisting motion is therefore
restrained (only allowing lowering action), preventing over-hoist. If main and aux. hooks work
simultaneously, hoisting motion will be stopped with either one microswitch activated, for two
microswitches are connected in series.
To disable this function temporarily, press the safety devices disabling button (which will reset
automatically and restore this function when released). The table below shows the distance between the
plumb and microswitch (at boom tip).

③ Moment limiter
Boom elevation angle is tested by moment limiter, which sends motion-limiting signal.
When boom angle ≥ upper angle limit, moment limiter is activated, red indicator lights up, the buzzer
send visual and acoustic alarm; meanwhile, motion limiting signal is sent to cut off oil supply with
boom hoisting motion stopped.

4.7 Tri-color load indicator
The crane is fitted with a tri-color load indicator which enables the
operator and personnel on site to view the current load status of the
crane. When the green light is lit and the moment proportion bar on
display shows green, this indicates that the load is less than 90% of
the maximum rated capacity. When the yellow light is lit and the
moment proportion bar shows yellow, this means that the crane is
between 90% and 100% of the maximum rated capacity, also an
intermittent audible alarm sounds. When the crane reaches 105% of
the maximum rated capacity the red light comes on, the moment
proportion bar shows red, a continuous alarm sounds, and all
motions which would bring the crane into an unsafe state are
disabled.
Important: Always set the values of boom length for moment
limiter in accordance with actual boom length.

Chapter 7
Wire Rope
7-1/ 13
QUY150C Operation Manual Chapter 7 Wire Rope
Most of actions of the machine are done by wire ropes. The quality and maintenance of wire rope affect
the efficiency of operation. When you want to replace old wire rope, you should buy the ropes which
are appointed by the manufacturer of the crane.
7.1 Uncoiling of wire rope
Warning
z Do not touch the wire rope with bare hands. Please wear the gloves.
z Keep hands and clothes away from the rotating drums and the moving wire
rope.
z By not following the above rules may result in serious injury or death.
Caution
z Please don’t use the wire rope beyond its regulation. Although no difference can be seen on
appearance of wire rope, but the damage inside is also different. It’s possible to be dislodged
from drum if wire rope is too long and get in disorder, which will result in premature
abrasion or damage. Also it’s possible to rupture if wire rope is short.
7-2/ 13
QUY150C Operation Manual Chapter 7 Wire Rope
If got a wrong uncoiling method would result in wire rope’s disorder, which will cause looseness,
kinking or twist which maybe affect wire rope’s life.
Both correct and incorrect uncoiling methods of wire rope are illustrated to the below. The wrong
uncoiling method of wire rope will disturb the construction of the rope and cause looseness, kinking
or twist which may seriously affect the service life of wire rope.
Note:
New wire rope’s specification must conform to original one. Please ensure new wire rope
performance not inferior to original one and inosculate with trough on the drum and pulley.
Please check all rope groove on the drum and pulley before refitting wire rope and ensure
them to be inosculated each other.
4.Attention when winding wire rope on the drum
¾ Please select proper length of wire rope appropriate to the working conditions ( boom length,
number of reeved lines and lifting height ) to prevent the wire rope in the upper layer from
embedding into the clearance between the ropes in the lower layer when a load is lifted.
¾ When the machine was shipped from the factory, wire rope is installed on the drum without
applying a line pull tension. If a large load is lifted, wire rope in the upper layer may be
embedded into the clearance between the ropes in the lawer layer, possibly resulting in lay
looseness, irregular winding and/or premature strand wire breakage of wire rope.
¾ Before using wire rope on the drum, be sure to spool out wire rope to its full length. Then
rewind the wire rope in the first layer on the drum while applying a line pull tension
corresponding to the type of work in which the machine will be engaged.
7-3/ 13
QUY150C Operation Manual Chapter 7 Wire Rope
Warning
z When having a wrong installation for drum’s rope wedge or end of wire rope is loose,
it’s possible to be dislodged and result in boom falling, please fix the wire rope well
z It’s possible to be dislodged and result in boom falling if wire rope’s roll quantity is not
enough for 3 circles, please do keep wire rope more than 3 circles.
7-4/ 13
QUY150C Operation Manual Chapter 7 Wire Rope
Disorder
Twist
Comply with the following procedures when winding the rope on the drum:
1. Attach the rope to the drum. Do not extend the end of the rope beyond outer drum surface.
2. When reeling wire rope on the drum, use care to guide the rope in line with each other from
one end of the drum.
3. When the first layer is finished; wire rope should be hammered or pushed into place with
hammer or pry bar to ensure an even winding surface.
4. Keep the gap as smaller as possible between the drum and the first coil of wire rope when
winding continuously.
5. Always keeps sufficient tension when winding.
6. Winding in disorder should be absolutely avoided, which is the main reason to cause the
premature break.
7. As a usual practice that rope rewinding is necessary after a long period of use, or it will run in
disorder occasionally.
8. After installing wire rope in the socket, use rope clip to fix rope end.
9. As a usual practice that the new wire rope needs to test with proper load after the installation
of new wire rope.
10. Apply the grease to wire rope properly.
1. Please thread the wire rope end through the fixing socket an make it into O-type by hand.
Thread the O-type through rope socket again and the load side is in the side of line.
2. Put wedge block into O-type rope. Pull the rope to make the
wedge block into the groove of wire rope.
Wedge
7-5/ 13
QUY150C Operation Manual Chapter 7 Wire Rope
3. Secure the fixing socket (T) on the boom top or hooks with the pins slowly to make the wedge
into the final position.
4. Fix the wire rope with rope clip and pay attention to the direction of rope clip.
Warning
z Broken wire rope can arouse various contingency, please inspect wire rope
thoroughly and replace it immediately if find problem.
Try to inspect wire rope every working day so that find damage or distortion in time, pay attention to
wire rope’s fixing position in itself. Please report this to relevant director and inspect following parts
if find obvious change :
1.Inspect drum :
○1 Inspect terminal part of wire rope on the drum
○2 Inspect abrasion (stave) and distortion aroused by wrong winding.
○3 Inspect broken wires
○4 Inspect erosion
○5 Check distortion caused by abrupt load.
2. Check crown block and fixed point:
○1 Inspect broken wires and abrasion rounded crown block or close to its rope segment.
○2 Inspect broken wires and abrasion at wire rope’s fixed point.
3
○ Look over distortion
○4 Inspect rope neck
3. Inspect traveling block :
○1 Check rope segment got through traveling block, especially the rope segment situated
between pulley zone when crane is loading
○2 Inspect broken wires and exterior abrasion.
○3 Inspect erosion.
7-6/ 13
QUY150C Operation Manual Chapter 7 Wire Rope
2. The diameter of the wire rope reduces due to the damage of the rope core. When the actual
diameter is less than 3% (resistant rope) or 10% ( other ropes) of the nominal diameter, the wire rope
should be replaced as soon as possible.
Note: The actual diameter of new wire rope may be more than the nominal diameter of wire
rope. The allowed tear and wear will increase.
3.Wire rope’s variable section is reduced and strength is decreased due to sexternal abrasion. When
reduction in diameter exceeded more than 7% of the nominal diameter, wire rope should be scrapped
even though broken wires aren’t found.
4. Kinked wire rope.
5. Remarkable deformation or corrosion is recognized.
6. The wire rope waves and is heavily deformed.
7.The inner parts of wire rope has been protuberant.
8.Extremely stretched rope by receiving excessive loads or from coming off sheaves.
9.Arced rope by contact with electric current.
10.In case the rope was exposed to electric or gas welding sparks or high temperature.
In addition, such as the pendant ropes are subjected to shock and heavy loads, care must be paid for
failure due to fatigue of materials. The replacement of a rope can be considered according to above
conditions but inside conditions can not be estimated due to different working conditions. All in all,
ropes should be replaced every 2000 servicing hours even if the above descriptions are followed.
Rope must be discarded immediately if any one or any combination of the following defects is found:
○1 Rope strands have broken wire (sometimes broken wires were hided by block) anigh local rope
section of balance block. See Fig 1

QUY150C Operation Manual Chapter 7 Wire Rope
Note:
The direction of entanglement ( when wire rope is Z lay ), wire rope without load is
parallel ; wire rope with load is often entangled as the above illustrated.
2.Rectification
The rotation direction of wire rope socket : rotate the rope socket in the same direction as the
hook is rotated by rope entanglement.
S-direction entanglement : rotate clockwise.
Z-direction entanglement : rotate counterclockwise.
○1 Number of rotations to correct rope entanglement :
Number of rotations to correct rope entanglement = Number of entanglements (number of hook turns )
X number of reeved line.
Required number to slowly rotate the hook until ropes become parallel after the ropes cease entangling.
○2 In order to let go of entanglement, wire rope is likely to get distorted if turn one time for
dismantling the rope sleeve beyond five turns. So rope sleeve should be turned for 4-5 turns
per time and repeat rectifying procedure until all the entanglement of wire rope are
unloosened.
3
○ Entanglement isn’t likely to be existed completely by wire rope characteristic depending on
7-11/ 13
QUY150C Operation Manual Chapter 7 Wire Rope
different reasons.
Please refer to rectification above for immediate entanglement happened after fitting the wire
rope.
○4 The following conditions are likely to be involved for entanglement after using wire rope for
a period of time:
¾ Wire rope has got distorted due to move in the block for a long time, thereby causing
irregular movement
¾ Block diameter is too small, block socket has been wore excessively or deflection angle is
too large etc.
Warning
z Please pay attention to the turning of wire rope sleeve when dismantling it.
