Reflection on Child Protection Policy

Deped recognizes this policy to provide special protection to
children who are gravely threatened or endangered by circumstances
which affect their normal development and over which they have no
control, and to assist the concerned agencies in their rehabilitation. It’s
very vital for teachers to know this policy especially those who are
dealing with young and minors. It’s very important for teachers to
know each of their students in their classroom as they are the first
people who interact with them inside the class. The teachers can see if
there is something wrong happening to their students. If situations like
these occur, it’s a good idea that the teacher finds out what is going on.
The teacher can talk to the student. It’s very important if the teacher
can gain the student’s trust. That’s the time the student opens up to
share what he/she is undergoing through. The teacher can give
counselling depending on how serious or heavy the situation is. The
teacher can seek help from the Guidance Counselor or the Principal just
to properly address the problem.
As a second parent, teachers have the right to look after the
welfare of their students especially if they are under their care. The
teachers play an important role in the educational attainment of the
students. So, it’s just right that they are provided with proper care
where they feel safe and unharmed in the school.
