1. Write 2 differences between acid and alkali.

Acid Alkali
Sour taste. Bitter taste and soapy feelings.

2. How litmus paper is made?

Ans:Litmus is a dye which comes from lichens ( a combination of fungi and green algae growing on
barks of trees) Litmus paper is made by soaking paper in litmus solution and then drying it.

a. What is slurry? Ans: Large amount of insoluble substances is called slurry.

major function which consists of many smaller functions.

ii. heart- blood and connective tissue.

c. Which system enables movement? Ans: The muscle tissue.

d. Draw an animal cell and label its different parts Ans:

a. cell membrane- It is a thin partially permeable layer which controls the movement of matrials in
and out of the cell.

b. nucleus- It controls the chemical reactions that take place in the cell.

c. chloroplast- These tiny disc-like structures containg a green pigement called chlorophhyl.

8. Write 2 differences between plant cell and animal cell.

9. What is a gene? How many chromosomes are present in each human cell?

Ans: A gene is a part of the chromosomes which control a particular characteristics of an organism.
Each human cell has 23 pairs of chromosomes.

10. Define conduction with an example.

Ans: Conduction is the transfer of the heat through metal from hot to cold regions without any
visible movement or flow of the metal. For Ex: Conduction of heat through a metal rod.
