I'm having trouble matching them since some of

the titles are unfamiliar to me. Yes, some literary
piece titles contain clues about the period in
which they were written, for instance, literary
pieces written during the Spanish colonial period
have titles written in Spanish that can be easily
identified as belonging to that period.

3. President Corazon Aquino addressed a

historic statement to the United States
Congress during a joint session. The
president tried to expressed her intention
through her remark, As a victim of Marcos'
brutal dictatorship, she defend the Filipino
people, she promise to proclaim the
Philippines' independence from the Marcos
administration. The assassination of Ninoy
Aquino set off a chain reaction that affected
the future of Philippine revolution. These
changes were intended to aid the growth of
the economy and start the new era for the
Filipinos and their government, as well as a
new home for democracy in the Philippines
country.

ACTIVITY 6: IDENTIFYING AND READING THE TIGSIK

1. A man who admires a maiden is the one who

talks in the first tigsik.

sampaguita and that when he first met her, she
had an effect on him that made him unable to
stop thinking about her.

3. She had an effect on him that made him

unable to stop thinking about her.

4. The maiden in the second tigsik is the one

who is talking about a certain man.

5. The maiden challenges the man to climb

seven farms in order for him to win the maiden's
heart.
6. There are still women, in my opinion, who
challenge guys who court them. Only a handful
of these women remain nowadays, but they
continue to believe that men must pursue
women and struggle to win a woman's heart.

ACTIVITY 10:

After reading the speech, I feel encouraged to look

ahead and move forward in these times of pandemic,
that this pandemic will not be a reason for me to
give up, that I should remain hopeful every day and
remember that challenges make people stronger.

The Philippines is dealing with a Coronavirus

pandemic that is affecting many people, particularly
students. As a result of the pandemic, students are
adjusting to the new normal of education, which
includes online classes and learning modules. Despite
a new normal education in the Philippines, the
students of the school year 2019-2020 have finally
graduated.

The main idea she wants to convey to 2020

graduates is that, despite the hardships and
challenges they face, they should be hopeful for
brighter days ahead and that they will build a new
path forward for our country and for our society.

ACTIVITY 10:

Many Filipinos were affected by the pandemic, and

many of them lost their work and sources of income.
As a result, many students decided to stop their
studies due to financial difficulties, and other
students gave up on achieving their goals as a
result of the pandemic.

In my opinion, it suits the audience to whom the

speech is meant, because appropriate language is
chosen to encourage the graduates. She also share
her personal experiences to advise and inspire the
students.

ACTIVITY 12:

Damiana L. Eugenio, a Filipino author, wrote the short

tale "The Ignorant Poor Man and the Priest." The story
is about a poor man who went to church and prayed
sincerely, and as a result of his perseverance, God
granted him what he longed for. In today's world, if
you put your mind on your life plans with a strong trust
in God, you will undoubtedly achieve them due to your
determination and God's guidance.
