TITLE: Respiration

AIM: To investigate how breathing rate changes with exercise


SKILLS ASSESSED: A/I , ORR
APPARATUS/MATERIALS: stop clock or watch, paper, pen, ruler
OBSERVATIONS/RESULTS:
Copy a table like the one below to fill in your results.

3rd minute

10th minute

METHOD:

 Sit quietly for two minutes to make sure you are completely relaxed.
 Count how many breaths you take in one minute. Record it in your table.
 Wait one minute, then count breaths again and record.
 Now do some vigorous exercise, such as stepping up and down onto a chair, for exactly two
minutes. At the end of this time, sit down. Immediately count your breaths in the next minute
and record.
 Continue to record your breaths per minute every other minute, until they have returned to near
the level before you started.
 Draw a graph of your results, putting time on the X axis (Graph is worth 5 marks)
