LESSON NAME: Diversity and discrimination

OVERVIEW

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
* Identify prejudice
* Identify stereotypes
*Understand discrimination

ACTIVITIES AND INSTRUCTION:

 In slide-2, the students have to write as to what they think are prejudices related to
girls.
 In slide 3, students have to see a video on diversity and discrimination
 In the 4 th slide, students have to understand the terms and their meanings.
 In slide 5, students will learn that almost all religions are followed in India.
 In slide 6, the students have to mark which statements are prejudiced and which are
stereotypes.
 In slide 7, the students have to differentiate the statement that relate to inequality
and put them into the scale and they will be able to see the ones that relate to
discrimination.
 In slide 8, the students have to put the things on which people are discriminated
against.
 In slide 9, the students will learn the laws which helps in promoting equality and
abolish discrimination.
 In slide 10 student will learn about the struggle to abolish inequality in our country.
 In slide 11, students have to choose whether they agree with the given statement or
not.

 Answer to activity on slide 6 is: Stereotypes:1: Asima is Asian so she must be good at
maths., 3: Punjabi’s are good at cooking, 4: Girls are sweet, 6: White people are
always kind Prejudice:2: Only men commit crime, 5: Pakastani’s are dangerous
 Answer to activity on slide 7 is: Inequality: 1,3,5 Discrimination: 2,4
 Answer to activity on slide 8 is: Gender, religion, caste, money, skin color
