LESSON 1

One of the most well-known word processing program in the world is the MS
word. Using this program, we can easily create a document without feeling pain in
our fingers and save a file with a blink of an eye. Also, in just typing, you can easily
input the letters, numbers, symbols that you want in your document. So, how can
we create a document using MS Word? Here are the steps in creating a document:

Steps in Creating a New Document


1. Click the file tab located at the left side of the ribbon to access the Backstage
View.

2. Select “New” and then, click “Blank document.”

Steps in Creating New Document from a Template

A Template in MS Word is a fixed document where you can easily create a new
document and use it as a pattern. This is the first thing you see when you open the
MS Word especially when you are using MS Word 2016. A template could be for
business presentations, brochures, etc. that contains specific layout and style.

1. Click the file tab located at the left side of the ribbon to access the Backstage
View, then select “New”.

2. Different templates will appear below the Blank document.

Note: You can also search for a template that you want by typing it in a “search-
box”.

Steps in Saving a File


Here are the steps in saving a file for the first time in MS Word:

1. Click the file tab located at the left side of the ribbon to access Backstage
View, then select “Save”.

2. Choose a location for the document.


3. Then, type the name of your document in the File Name box.
4. Click the Save button

Note: you can also do a shortcut keys by pressing CTRL + S or clicking the Save
icon in the Quick Access Toolbar.
Also, if you want to create a copy of your existing file, you can click “Save
as”.

Steps in Closing a Documents


After saving a file, just click the close button located at the upper right side
of the window.
You can also select the file tab located at the left side of the ribbon to access
Backstage View, then select “Close”

Note: you can also do it by a shortcut by pressing CTRL + W or CTRL + F4 to close


the window.
