The completed exercise

1. Create a new part using the Sheet


Metal.ipt template.

2. Start a new 2D sketch on the TOP plane


and create a center point rectangle
1.5in wide by 0.5in tall.

3. From the sheet metal tab select Face
and create a new sheet metal face
using all default settings.

4. From the setup section of the sheet


metal tools select the sheet metal
defaults and edit the sheet metal rule
that controls the part thickness.

5. Modify the sheet metal thickness to


0.06in and OK.

6. Use the Flange tool to add flanges at 45
degrees and 1in long to both sides of
the current sheet metal part.

7. Repeat the flange tool to create a


secondary set of flanges at 45 degrees.

8. Select Create Flat Pattern to create a


flattened state of the sheet metal part
for detailed drawings and fabrication.

9. Check the bend order annotations and


then return the part to its folded state
and save the design as
SheetMetalPractice. Figure 9. Save
