People are born with an inherited body type based on skeletal
frame and body composition. Most people are unique
combinations of the three body types: ectomorph, mesomorph,
and endomorph. But today, we are going to dig deep and just
focus to one of the three body types ; the ectomorph
Definition:
Ectomorphs are long and lean, with
little body fat, and little muscle. They
have a hard time gaining weight.
Fashion models and basketball players
fit this category. While most of us love
to hate these genetically-blessed
individuals, some male ectomorphs
may not be thrilled with their narrow-
chested frames, and some female
ectomorphs long for more womanly
curves.
Typical traits:
Generally thin and lean, ectomorphs tend to have slender
waists, narrow hips and shoulders, small joints, and long legs
and arms. They tend to be slim, without much body fat or
noticeable muscle mass. Because they have fast
metabolisms, they burn calories quickly, so ectomorphs may
find themselves hungry frequently throughout the day; yet,
regardless of what, how often, or how much they eat, they
don’t gain weight or muscle easily.
Advantages & Disadvantages:
Advantages:
•natural resistance to weight gain
•high metabolism
•propensity to excel in endurance
sports

Disadvantages :
•struggle to gain weight
•small bones
•low fat levels
How to fix ectomorph:
Ectomorphs should aim to eat at least 50-60% of their
calories in the form of carbohydrates. A diet consisting
of complex carb sources like oatmeal, rice, sweet
potatoes, quinoa, beans, and whole wheat bread is
important.
