1. Dividends (dividente) – are payments made out of a firm’s earning. It can be in the
form of cash or stocks
2. Injunction (ordin, poruncă) – is an order from the court restraining a person from
doing a wrongful act.
3. Human right (drept al omului ) – is constituted by all customs and laws that have been
developed to protect individuals, groups, races & minorities from oppressive
government. These rights belong to all people simply because they are human
4. Sovereignty (suveranitate, stăpânire) – is the supreme power and authority of a state
to govern itself or another state
5. Forfeited (a pierde ca ipotecă, a pierde dreptul asupra) – is a procedure where a
landlord terminates a lease contract early because the tenant breached a covenant
6. Conversion (conversie, transormare) – is the intentional exercise of dominion and
control over the chattel (property) of another without consent or privilege
7. Trademark (marcă) – is any word, name, symbol, or device; any combination thereof
adopted and used by a manufacturer or merchant to identify his goods and distinguish
them from those manufactured or sold by others
8. Real estate (avere imobilă) – is the land at, above, and below the earth's surface,
including all things permanently attached to it whether natural or artificial/permanent
man-made additions, such as houses and other buildings
9. Heir (moștenitor, urmaș)– is a person who is entitled to receive property of the person
who has died under the laws of intestate succession.
10. Tort (delict) - is a situation where one person is harmed by another and this harm
gives rise to the right to sue.
11. Defamation (defăimare) – is the action of Injuring a person’s character or reputation
by false and harmful statement.
12. Will (testament) – is an instrument, required to meet certain formalities, in which a
testator names a person or persons to manage his estate and provides for the transfer
of his property at death.
13. Liability (răspundere) – it means responsibility for the damages caused.
14. Sole trader (comercian unic) – is any business that is owned and controlled by one
person (even if they may employ workers. Examples: hairdressers, plumbers.
15. Duress (constrângere) – is physical threat or other illegitimate pressure being used on
the other party or someone else.
16. Articled clerk (funcționar titularizat) - is someone who is studying to be an
accountant or a lawyer.

17. The doctrine of precedent (doctrina precedentului) – it means that decisions made in
superior courts in a hierarchy are binding on inferior courts.
18. Conveyancing (a transmite) - is the act of transferring ownership of a piece of
property from one party to another.
19. Separation of Powers – is a division of power in the government so that no one
branch is too powerful
20. Testator – is a person who has made a Will.
