Our team was given a three-day worksheet in which we had to monitor our

family, observe our food habits and discuss food saving tips from FMO and
International Food Waste Coalition with them.

We are proud to say that this was a phenomenal success. Our team members
and their respective families have gained valuable information. The tips
provided to us not only tell but show and prove that they are very
effective. Our group leader Moksh Saraf has led by example. He has made
efficient use of tip number eight on forming compost. Compost is a mixture
of ingredients used as plant fertilizer and to improve soil’s physical, chemical,
and biological properties. He has taken leftover fruits and planted chilli
seeds which are now sprouting. Another tip guided us to make a shopping list.
We limited our purchases which greatly helped us in reducing our food waste.
We also gave away food to the watchmen and peons in our society. We also
learned about the optimum temperatures for food storage which allowed us to
prolong shelf life of certain items.

This has truly been a wonderful experience for all our members and we are
looking forward to more interesting projects like this one.
