Project Brief: Shoaibah Stage 3 is a 1,200 MW Oil-fired Power plant located in the eastern part of the
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Shoaiba is the largest steam power plant in the Gulf and already consists of 11 x
400 MW units. The further three units now being built will bring the plant’s total generating capacity to 5.6
GW. Due to high growing demand for electricity in the kingdom, the contractual completion dates for the
first two units were mitigated to meet SEC request of electricity production during the summer of year
2011. This challenge was accepted by ALSTOM to show the organization's commitment in supporting the
development of the Kingdom.
